Right...Zero saying he doesn't care about rank...That's like Netto saying his current avatar isn't Genis Sage of Tales of Symphonia. (cough)NAC(cough) Anyway, RPing outside the forum games is annoying, so I agree with not doing it. Anyway, I pretty sure that the "Formally known as" will get REALLY long for a certain member....Well, a good idea is putting your former name in your sig for a while until people start calling you by your new name. Then you can forget your old name entirely. I still remember both of my old names, one because I have to log in with it, and the other is part of the title on my RP. And I doubt I'll change my name, unless I just decide to be known by only one name on the forums. MZ knows what that is...

You mean Phantom? And just to stay on topic, Why would anyone change their name frequently anyway? It seems just plain retarded.

Some people can't figure out what they want to be known as. I'm thinking of changing my name to something else, a title my older brother gave me. I'll see....I'll just keep every thing but the saying under my avatar if I do. Maybe I should flip a coin...

Another way to resolve this would be to keep the picture for awhile. If your smart, you'll remember who that person is from their Av.

Correct. Or, you also could place in your Signature, or your personal message. That would help. I haven't changed my avatar, and i also said so in my signature. Okay. That should be it, providing i remember correctly, i added that avatar before my name change.

Listen, if you can find a quote form me when I'm caring about my rank, I'll be amazed. On-Topic: why is it such a need for a name change? and this is a communism, only Netto can decide teh Rules. D:< And we're all happy with Net's rules. They're perfect.

I agree with the "don't change it frequently"-part, yet not the "don't change it at all"-part... :o
Alot of forums tend to have people who wish to change their nick for one reason or another! Perhaps getting over the fanboyism revolving around one thing or developing such on another thing (... *Cough* N-n-not me, t-though...! *Cough*). Sure, it may be a tad confusing for some people when there's a new guy who has 1000 posts, yet it's not all that hard to see who it is. Just in case some of you have yet to realize this, but if you pan your mouse over someone's name, you'll see their account login. So it shouldn't be all that challenging to recognize a person.
But yeah, frequent changing is just plain annoying. As a bad example, I recall that that Da Lead Ninja-dude used to change his ava/name on a daily basis. ><

Yeah he changed his name alot, and it became annoying fast.
True you can mouse over the name to see the registered with name, and that is a bit of a saving grace... But if the user changes their name so often and you never really knew their registered with name... then things get more complicated.
As far as avatars go... Don't rely on them to recognise people, as avatars change, as names might change, or there could always be another user with a very similar avatar that starts using it as soon as you change yours.

I agree. I recall an incident having to do with Flash and megamanzero5. They both had the same GIF of Zero at one point, only megamanzero5's was horribly resized.

Seriously, I don't really see why anyone would want to change their name frequently anyway. Unless of course someone was looking to piss people off or making attempts at getting banned. And on the case of flash and Megamanzero5, he gave credit to flash, who didn't even make that gif. I've seen over a gabajillion times around the internet long before Flash was ever using it. I even saw it on a Youtube video. And back to the topic, I've said it before (twice not counting this time) and I'll say it again, frequent name changes are just retarded.

Zero. NAC. A little buzzed with power. Enough said. I'm still thinking of changing my name. But, somebody will get confused, somebody might steal both my sig and ava and claim to be me, piss off hundreds, and my kinda good name will be soiled....even more. It's possible.

If somebody stole your name and ava/sig. Then I'd notice since I know that your login name is Zerocross.

You know, there's a message board I frequent, and they had a dandy nice system there back in the day. You could change your name only after a certain time had passed since your last name change, and you then had to post in a thread specifically for name changers. You'd post who you were known as before and notify people that you're using a new name.
And while I, too, find it slightly problematic at times, changing your name isn't all that bad. Some people can just grow tired of their name and feel like changing it. Perhaps a new member, who turns out to be a total jerk, has a name similiar to yours, and you wish to avoid confusion? Maybe you're surfing the web drunk off your arse again, and you feel like confusing people? There are a myriad of reasons people would want to change their names, and some of them are entirely acceptable.

But most of them are actually, NOT acceptable. I find it confusing. Maybe like once a month or once in every TWO months. That would countertact it. But of course, its unlikely some would bother.
