I see a few things:
1. Dr. Light is in many ways encouraging it.
2. Until Zero appeared turning Sigma and other reploids maverick, he had no reason to fight.
3. He pretty much knows he could kill any reploid he wants to, even if he struggles at first, including being blown to pieces a couple of times. In other words, he doesn't want to use the power he has and turn maverick.
That's just my opinion. This is just a start. I'm sure we could make a bigger list of things. X is my favorite character from the X series, not because he's a pacifist, but because he's so dang awesome.

Look, you know X isnt a full pacifist. ill make a listn of stuff he is/probably is.
1. pacifist
2. probably created t be THE ULTIMATE cleaner of mass cleanliness(Duh. light needs a POWERFULL cleaner)
3. he has a WEAPON OF MASS DESTRUCTION. tell me, do you think he was built properly? i DOUBT LIGHT WASNT DRUNK ENOUGH TO MAKE HIM NOT ONLY A PACIFIST, BUT A WEAPON OF MASS DESTRUCTION HELL YAH!

Yeah, I know he's not full pacifist. That's especially obvious in MMXCM when he's constantly pointing his X-buster at his enemies and getting ready to shoot, of course, you only actually get to see him shoot one time, but who cares. Once is enough, and it's making progress (I'm loosely quoting http://www.mmhp.net).

ok, 2 may not be true, yes bob and george and stuff... but 1, he is a pacifist!
and 2, if hes a pacifist then h=hed be made by someone mad is he also is a weapon of mass destruction. agree with me or get killed by X himself. *kaclick*NOT AXL, X!

well if they told us more abot him more then "hes a blahblahblah class hunter" and say more y'know but anyway he was more of a pacifist around the X7/8 series

No, he alway was. just in X1 for examp, they wouldnt show it because in these times stories werent that much explained. he was a pacifist, though no one really knew.

You have to beat X1 (which I'm sure most of us here have) to know X is a pacifist that early. You can get the impression that he doesn't want to fight the mavericks, but he knows he has to.

exactly so around x7 he refuses to fight after awhile and disappears like the instruction booklet says so like my last post said he became more and more of a pacifist. you should really pay attention to what you read
