In MMX era, I dont know, but in the Zero era, Cyber X gave it to him.

Cain probably made the first sabers, since Sigma had one. He probably gave one to Zero after he was repaired by him in X2

I know that after Sigma and Zero fought, before Sigma went maverick he started training Zero with the saber so I'd guess Sigma gave it to him.

thats right, Sigma didn't go maverick for a while after he contracted the virus, so he trained Zero in that time with the saber, but where he got his sabre is probably from dr. Cain or he took Sigma's after Sigma was beaten the first time by X

No, that can't happen since he didn't have the saber in X1.
He recieved it from Cain in X2 after he is repaired since you only see him with the saber when he kills Fake Zero at the final Sigma stage

yeah he didn't have a sabre of his own yet (during X1) but when he was revived Dr. Cain could have given him one or X could have left Sigma's old one for him, since he knew Zero was training with one ( and he picked up Sigma's old one after the battle )

First of all you have very bad grammar. Second I agree with lots of these people. The bad guys gave it to him. Well really Sigma but he was good when he did. Oh well.

Since Cain gave a saber to Sigma when he was created, he probably gave Zero one. |

Then the saber was replaced in X6 since his old one was given to X. I dunno what X did with Zero's saber after X6 o.o

Zero uses the same saber until X5. He gives his saber to X after that.
X keeps Zero's saber in X6.
Zero gets a new one (Hence the new sprites and combos) which he keeps until X8.
I don't know what X did with Zero's original saber after X6
