Not to be rude dude ,but how does that apply to this out of curiosity? I remember that speech ,but seriously who thought about the video? Just wondering really is all... Anyways a countdown intill he reaches office is getting quite near and people have resorted to vile crimes with out care... That is injustice! Can no one stop them? What kind of society is this that can't except change? Why do such things? Was it all neccessary for this? Hate crimes and random attempts of murder have to be involved because you can't deal with it? Sorry brothers and sisters I wasn't reffering to anyone on here... Just got a little angry out of this entire hectic year and I am glad its over ,but there will be more stuff like this in the future.... Sad days will come and chaos has again grown in The USA.... Um....if i may clear something up. Or rather, answer some of your questions. The main location where all of these conflicts has been in the South, which in history has been against change. If they had wanted to change then their entire economic way of life would've been destroyed. The only way they could have survived is if they tried to avoid change as long as possible. Because of this the South adopted a Code of Honer instead of written laws and constitutions because these can be amended and changed. If nothing is written then nothing can be changed. At least thats what they thought. This also ties into the South being against emancipation of slavery. The south's whole economy was dependent on slavery. If change did happen and they become more industrial like the north then they would love slavery which was their prime method for cotton production. This is the reason why the South was so against change. And throughout time this carried over generation to generation. So the South still has the same idea of change being a negative thing. And also the racist ideas passed down in the family from the slavery issues. And from all this comes the animosity towards Barak Obama. The South is also has history of violent rebellion against something they feel is wrong, so seeing extremism isn't all that much of a surprise.

The South is also has history of violent rebellion against something they feel is wrong, so seeing extremism isn't all that much of a surprise. You are aware aren't you, that most of the country is divided right now? Yes, the Republicans tend to do better in the south and mountain/plains regions but the Democrats have made significant gains there this year. And states on the coast and midwest, which are traditionally Democrat, have been very closely divided as well. That's a terribly ignorant view to try and pin all of the unrest in the country on the south. Furthermore, as long as we're on the topic of slavery did you know that it was the Democratic Party that held control of the south during the American Civil War? That it was the Republican Party that came in, brought the union back together and as punishment for the south, set the slaves free? Look back at the electorate map, the ones where the states are colored blue and red. That the south changed from a Democratic stronghold to a Republican one was a very recent development in the big scheme of things. That's a very big change right there. Its easy to paint them all off as racist, idiot rednecks but that's simply not the case. Discontent with the '08 election is going on in every state, the angry rioting is not confined to the south. Its not even confined to the McCain supporters, there were plenty of drunken Obama supporters happily celebrating by overturning cars and stealing. So please don't cast blame indiscriminately, you're only making things worse.

In case you didn't realize, Chaos, i was giving a historical explanation as to the origin of such civil disobedience. Of course currently it's not isolated in the South but this is where all of it started from. Since then we've expanded and migrated to other parts in the country. And along with this migration comes lifestyles and morals with them.
Oh, but i see you talk about the political parties at the time. Well when you talk about the Democratic Party back then you should specify which political party. Even the Democratic Party was split into Northern Democrats and Southern Democrats each with their own nominee. Not to mention that Abraham Lincoln was part of the Republican Party, not the Democratic Party. Plus, Franklin Pierce and James Buchanan? Even though they were part of the Democratic Party they were both push-overs when it came to governmental actions. After all that was pretty much the only way for a candidate to get elected during that time period is if they were a flip-flopper. That way they could manage just enough votes from both the north and the south to win the election. No political party really had power back then. I mean, sure the Democrats were very influential but they also had tough competition with the Whigs during some points.
In addition, the political parties in that time can't really be compared to the political parties of today. They did have different issues to contend with, after all. In history everything changes. We can see that through fads, and new improvements. Of course political ideas are going to be formed through the issues of the time and thus transform with them. The republican party of that time isn't necessarily the political party of today or even a couple of decades ago.
Even with the Electoral College, how recent of a change are we talking about? Even going back as far as the 1992 Election southern states like Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, and miswestern states like Idaho and Utah have voted Republican.
Also, i'm not sure if you noticed but you go on to talk about angry rioting but then also mention happy celebrators. How does that even correlate? These people i'm pretty sure stopped their drunken celebrating by now. But even so of course apprehension will be seen in every state. The generation that had to deal with segregation and civil rights is still active. Those ideas of discrimination is still floating around.
I was merely pointing out the origin of it all. Where these ideas all started. Even the Civil Rights Era had its roots based from the time of the Civil War. It all connects to each other. But since then people have moved, and with them the spread of ideas. Southern ideas spread into midwestern states during the entire time we were populating our new territory. It didn't help that the Kansas-Nebraska Act opened up new territory and let the decision of the territories having slavery as legal or illegal or not up to popular sovereignty. From there tons of people flocked to "Bleeding Kansas" in order to try to gain the majority. After that the ideas just spread outwards from there towards the west.
Now while it may be Obama supporters were causing an uproar because of the win, if you watched during the speeches afterward that both candidates gave you can see the difference in each political party. The supporters gather in McCain's area kept booing during his speech and each time McCain had to silence them. Meanwhile Obama's supporters were silently listening as he gave his speech. This is just clear evidence that there is more animosity hanging on the Republican side than on the Democratic side.

i mean no offence by this and im not saying that obama was a poor choice at all i was ruting for him but there saying that because obama won means that amarica isnt rasist but a large portion of his votes where probly based on the fact that he is black which in itself isnt negitive but still technacally rasist

I thought this thread was locked?...
Oh well, the fact that he won, is the fact that he made history. That's good enough at the moment.
However, if he does make the USA a better place, then hooray, we may not have to worry too much about the USA's general intelligence among it's masses.

And I'm not going to argue with that. You seem to have me confused with someone who thinks Obama will be a sucky president. Which I don't, I happen to believe he'll be a great president.
My issue here is the length of time the thread has been dead for and that your comment was neither insightful or important enough to warrant its revival. I decided not to lock this because its an important enough topic and because its an ongoing issue. Now go read the rules and don't revive topics unless you have something constructive to say.
