No. The only thing that has actually happened is that the name was registered. Nothing else. Nothing.
That's the only thing that was said. We don't know what console it's for. the XBL and PSN thing was made up by a nabcake on a Freewebs site that spread.

This is not a fluke...well...not anymore.
Mega Man 9 is coming out for the virtual console on the Wii, in full NES glory! (Sound, graphics, and all)
It was released in Nintendo Power. This is no joke. MM9 is really coming out.

My mistake. It is the WiiWare. Keiji Inafune did seem to imply the virtual console though. The question is, will there be additional playable characters? The interview said that is classified, but you know what that typically means.

Mega Man 9 Set for WiiWare Looks like the Blue Bomber is going back to his roots. by Daemon Hatfield June 26, 2008 - Our ears perked up last week when we saw Capcom had filed the title Mega Man 9 with Australia's Classification Review Board (down under's version of the Entertainment Software Ratings Board). It's been over ten years since we were blessed with a proper new Mega Man game. Now it looks like the next entry in the series is set for Nintendo's WiiWare service. Fansite The Mega Man Network has gotten its hands on a couple (blurry) scans from the next issue of Nintendo Power. The screenshots look like the classic 8-bit Mega Man we all know and love. Capcom is apparently going old school with this one. Mega Man Network lists the following robot bad guys: Magma Man Galaxy Man Jewel Man Concrete Man Hornet Man Plug Man Tornado Man Splash WOMAN (although this isn't confirmed, yet) Mega Man 9 is being developed by Inti Creates, a team made up of former Capcom devs that brought us the first three Mega Man X games, Mega Man Zero, and the Mega Man ZX series. Source: IGN Its confirmed now. If there is a female robot master... I wonder how Bass is going to take that... I'm so excited to finally see how Light, Proto and everyone dies. Should be a great time. If Capcom actually ties up loose ends and fills in the plotholes.

Interesting... Though I still hope they make an X9 or maybe Command mission 2... (Elf wars anyone?)
But we'll see what happens with this game.
Though I gotta wonder, if they're going back to the 8bit style, then are they going to do it entirely 8bit or they going to have 8bit graphics but enhanced sound? And the cutscenes will they be 8bit ones or also enhanced?

According to Keiji Inafune in the interview with Nintendo Power, it is going to have the old-school sounds as well.

Watch me download the arranged pieces when they show lol..... .....assuming that the pieces will be good. Well, I don't doubt that the will, but There's a diffrence between awesome and memorable considering the excellent megaman music history. There will be some that'll go on my Zune, and some that won't.

And the cutscenes will they be 8bit ones or also enhanced? That'd be a bit stupid. If that'd happen, might as well give Mega Man a voice with the same quality as Solid Snake in MGS4.

I'm sure the sound will be old timey beeps as well. Capcom must want to make this as clasic and old school as possible. Otherwise they would have chosen to do it MM7 and 8 style. Or even better.
