I think they're going to be adding in some new items in this game that will have a big impact on the experience.
Also, this game will have the first offical female robot master. If that's not "new" enough for you, then kindly step away from the original series, before someone does something stupid and violent.

The items that I've heard about were costume changes and a hair changer type of thing. One of those costumes have been confirmed as Roll. And the other is suppossed to be Protoman.

I have no problems with this new parts for MM9, however, they did improve till MM8, thats why I expected something new for the graphic than going back to old school, if this is indeed the end of the classic MM, I would expect a lot more to it, still, I believe I will get it for my Wii to try it out.
Edit: Also, if you do say that there will be the first female robot master, I wouldn't say its the first, maybe for the classic, but not in the whole series, for I remember playing Alia in MMX8 as an unlockable char.

First of all, that's X series, not original series. Second of all, Alia isn't a robot master. Third, you fight some other girl whose name escapes me at the moment in X4. Fourth, in the X series, they are Mavericks (Reploids gone wild). That, I am aware of. However, they could still make it good with newer graphics, while I never hated the NES graphics, I would be happy to see the classic Mega Man in better graphics, and still maintaining its hardness that the NES games had, those were good time, but I would still expect something new, yet maintain the hardness. The problem is that sometimes the games just get easier with better graphics and more buttons because then you are free to do more and add more to it. However, I know this is not necessarily the case with Mega Man. Especially if you've played MegaMan Network Transmission or the X games on the PS1 and PS2.

My mistake, and the girl you are talking about in X4 is Iris. ^^ Well, I still am going to play it as I said, we'll see if it is indeed as good as Capcom expect it to be, long time since I've played the classic version...

I think we may have a release date. According to Wikipedia's Megaman 9 page, the game will be out in Japan and North America on the twenty forth of september, with the PAL region releases to be announced.
Can anyone confirm this? And also how many Wii points it'll cost? If it's the same price as an NES Virtual Console game, then I'm one hundred points short.

So, I've got a couple of points to bring up.
First off, it's already been proven that this game is going to be capable of more in terms of design compared to the old NES games. In one of the videos from the game, Megaman is on a rotating cylinder that moves him in a circle from foreground to background while leaving him flat, Paper Mario-style. The NES NEVER had the power to pull something like that off. So it won't be surprising at all if MM9 has quite a few innovations over the NES games.
Secondly, while I kind of like the old school MM2 feel of this game, I almost wish it had more to it. Thanks to the no slide or charge thing, the options for this game are automatically hindered. I was really hoping for something on par with the excellent MMV for Game Boy. That game might as well have been MM9, and sure makes a better one than MM&B. But, oh well, I have no doubt that this one'll be awesome and will completely make up for Megaman's lackluster attempts in recent years.
[you]My Mega Man 9 wishlist[/you]
The ability to play as Protoman Useful Robot Master powers No shield power No time freeze power An appearance by Forte Dr. Wily NOT using that @#$%ing telporting end-phase. A really long Wily Fortress (I always liked that...)

What's this about no charge shots or slide? I can understand taking out the charge shots because when playing the NES Megaman games on the Anniversary Collection I just used the Triangle button to rapid-fire, but the slide was actually useful. What good would taking it out do?

because most poeple like MM2 the best and it had no sliding, so they took it out to give it a MM2 feel. Personaly I like the no slide or charge shot.

No charge is just fine, but I REALLY like the slide. They should have at least kept that.
Hopefully they'll have it as an unlockable.

They might go at this like they did with powered up, to where after beating easy you got Megaman S (slide) and then after normal you got Megaman C(Charge and slide) then you got rock, just Rock. He sucked.

I couldn't care less for either of them. I've played enough games in my life to allow my thumb to give me super rapid shot(and I mean SUPER) and sliding isn't how I think. So yea.

I always preferred charged shot over rapid since in many cases, bosses would have invincibility frames for a few seconds after a hit. Additionally, a lot of megaman bosses, (particularly the final few) require you to dodge, dodge, and dodge until he spends one second to regain power after an attack. And if all you get is one second, one shot, you want as much power compressed into it as you can get. Hence, charge shot.
