Yes, L is quite similar to Light as he their level intellect is equal, yet L is more aggressive with his approach to unveiling Kira's identity than Light is at revealing L's.
Strange how during the whole series they never revealed L's name, but only in the final chapter of the manga.
Heres another fun fact about DN, China banned Death Note coz they think it was a bad influence to their youths after a kid used a fake one on his teacher and classmates as a joke.
*oh if your interested in learning L's name just read here, if not turn away at once.
L's real name is quite weird, but considering his an orphan I'll let it go.

I've seen up to about episode 35. I like it a lot, but after like ep 32 the site I watched it on went down, and I was too lazy to search very hard for english-subbed streams of it. Also, I just gotta say that Ryuk is awesome.
