Does anyone know if Ichigo uses his hollow half in the fight with that captain in the soul society? I don't mean the guy with red hair either. I mean the guy that always has a little girl following him.

No he doesnt, he beats him without Bankai or hollow form, because he wasnt aware of hollow form and didnt learn bankai yet.

Well his full hollow form first appears around episode 122-125...
You mean Zaraki Kenpachi? No Ichigo manages to beat him using his spirit power only, he hasn't had much dealings with his hollow yet... He doesn't really have problems with it until he gets his bankai.

When Ichigo and Kenpachi do battle, as Ichigo is preparing for the final attack, you can clearly see the hollow-mask in the aura surrounding him. This suggests that he was unintentionally tapping into his hollow. *SPOILERS END HERE* One last question, what is bankai? When Shinigami use their blades, they first look like ordinary katanas (with only a few exception, Ichimaru Gin's wakizashi being one). From there, the Shinigami can power up by releasing their blades using Shikai (first release). And from there, they can go one step further with Bankai (second release). Both releases change the appearance of the blade, with Bankai being more extreme. Bankai is difficult to master, and all captains of the thirteen protection squads (except for Zaraki Kenpachi, who does not even know the name of his blade) are required to know how to use it. It usually takes several years to learn, and then even more to fully master. |

Same with my friend, hes waiting for ep 130 or 131, never kept track.
So anyways, large bankais are most difficult to master. Mastering ways to improve its speed and effectiveness. Usually takes 8 years to learn bankai, but (spoiler ahead scroll down for it)
Urahara kisuke made a device that allows you to learn bankai in a max of 3 days, ichigo did this and mastered it in just 2 days.

Ok thanks. I was gonna ask how Ichigo takes Kenpachi out but the episode when that happens should be on tonight(HOPEFULLY).

One thing I don't like about Bleach is that the Bankai form rapidly got thrown off.
One or two times used, and after that it's beaten up each time it's battled against.
(SPOILARZ)
Only like, 100 chapters later, against Dordonii at Las Noches, it's used and wins. (He would have won without the Hollow Transf.)
And now Ichigo needs to find yet a new power source to fight the Espada from Rank 5 and lower, since Ulquiorra quickly owned his Hollow transformation being only Rank 4, or increase the duration, 11 seconds suck.

I agree bankai gets so easily overpowered, it's rather irritating... thay made a huge deal about Bankai but by the time they get it, everyone has it and is fairly useless. Majority of the enemies can match it without effort.
And as far as learning the Bankai, he learns it during the Soul society arc, before he fights Byakuya
As far as the hollow mask over his energy aura when against Zaraki, Yeah but still the power is his own, it just manifests as him with his hollow form active, considering how Zaraki's energy looked, and the fact he has no hollow form/other energy source, the energy can appear as anything close to the person, or symbolic of them.

Well, I guess we all have to draw our own conclusions about what the mask in the aura means, eh?
As for Bankai, I'm seeing the classical DBZ-effect at work. The plot always focuses on becoming stronger in order to defeat the new, more powerful enemies.
*THEM SPOILERS AHEAD*
I mean, for the last few episodes, Ichigo has been... You guessed it folks, working out! He even had a treadmill. Cute. And when he's strong enough, he can defeat the enemies in order for the next foes to make their entrance.

In reply to Maniacal_Reploid: Its close, but not right after. i dont count eps, so dont blame me, he learns it right before Rukia's execution, then rescues her and fights her brother who is vaguely quite powerful. These are my fave eps for 2 reasons.
1. I like watching speedy battles, Ichigo's using bankai, i like to watch those battles.
2. HOLLOW FORM YAAAAYS!!!!!!

Ichigo DID increase the Hollow transformation time limit yet we did not see him train alot, weird o.O.
On his battle with Resurrección Form Grimmjow he obviously surpasses that limit, even Grimmjow tells him that.
