Ah I see, then I guess it doesn't matter if he does that. Long as things work out the way you want them it doesn't really matter to us fans.
(Yeah sure people might whine about somethings they would have done differently, but that's to be expected with anything, and if they don't like it they can do it themselves or shut up.)
That being said, good luck with the film.

It matters much for the fans. I'm a fan, too, so I aim to make all fans happy and pleased with this film from story to character to music. Sadly, the reality is not all fans will like the film for one reason or another. Some irate fans will rip the film apart for even the smallest reason while other will take the film for what it is and either not enjoy the film or LOVE the film. The story is faithful, the characters are faithful, and the fun factor is faithful, but yet that isn't enough to some and that is very stressful.
For example, the role of Roll is down to two actress: one blonde Caucasian and one black haired Asian American. They both have the acting ability and the looks but, of course, the blonde has the "edge" just because of the hair color HOWEVER the asian actress was AMAZINGLY dead on for Roll. Every line she delivered, every movement she made, just everything was so spot on. She was acting as Roll. She IS Roll. As the director, I felt she would be a better choice but the catch-22 is by going with such a choice, some fans will argue and bash because of the fact she isn't a blonde. She can wear the red wardrobe, she can give the performance, but they will look pass all that just because he has black hair. What choice do I make? I don't know because either choice will cause positives and negatives for the film. The asian actress could wear a wig or dye her hair but the flaw is that the dye could permanently ruin her hair and a subpar wig will just look cheesy and THAT in itself would be ripped apart and mocked. Hell, I'm slightly miffed by the lack of blonde hair but when it comes down to what's best for the film, I need to do what must be done. The main reason I considered asian actors and actresses for the film was to try to have the film grounded in the culture in which Megaman/Rockman was created ala. the Japanese culture. I guess one thing I have going for me is my decisions are motivated by my absolute love for "Megaman" and my art. I'm not making a penny off this so money isn't driving whatever decisions I make since I am in it for the art, the game, and all other fans; not for anything else.
Overall, I'm trying to do something most Hollywood video game films fail to do. I don't want to just make a good video game film. I want to make a GOOD FILM. Thanks for the luck and be on the look out for major updates soon. I'm willing to answer any questions!

Win or lose your still a winner for having the will of turning this franchise into a live film. *Actors or actresses doesn't matter as long as it's faithful to the characters personality, while other video game related films failed in that area.

Ouch, that's quite a pickle your in. You might as well go with the Asian-american if she's a better Roll and if you think she'd be a better choice.
Also, what music will be in the movie? Hopefully quite a few Megaman remixes?

But ultimately it's your choice, not the fans of the series. So as I said no matter what they do/say, they aren't the ones making the movie. You just have to please yourself as a fan and not worry so much about everyone else. Like you said, there will be critics who'll (try to anyway) rip it apart for the smallest detail.
Hmm, though I'm taking it that if you have the Asian woman as roll will you have an Asian man as Megaman? ( They are supposed to be brother and sister, so it'd be a natural thought that if they were built as brother and sister they would be the same race. )
Well if your worried about the blonde issue, maybe you can find a really good wig? (try searching Google for wig makers and wig info, that might help.)

Like Virus said, there are convincing wigs out there, and not all hair dyes will ruin the hair. Of course I've never seen an Asian woman try to pull off blonde hair so I'm not sure if that'd look good or not. If it looks good though I would try to go with the blonde hair, just for accuracy sake but if she can't pull it off don't worry too much. And yeah, did you mean every actor and actress would be asian or just Rock and Roll? Because they, at least should look somewhat alike, (even though Rock has black hair and Roll is a blonde
And @ Peytral, they already confirmed they were going to add Wily's Castle Theme from Megaman 2, which is enough for me. But I'd be interested to see what else gets in.
And @ Daftman again, can we see one of the costumes? You said they wouldn't be spandex and I'm curious to see what you came up with.

If it makes you feel any better, though Megaman is based on japanese anime, the setting is actually in USA, so blondie could work out fine. As for the hair dying,....well, I dunno. But I've heard of some type of organic hair dye. last year, I had a girlfriend who used it, often. Her hair was black, though upon using the dye, it became a nice sheen shade of purple, blue, pink, ect(she changed it often) and when she wanted it all out, she washed here hair, leaving no trace of dye.....After all that, however, I still don't think I can help, since I never asked what type of hair dye she used, the brand name and such. ....but then again, I agree with tank in that not many asians can pull of blonde hair unless its dirty blonde. (I've seen it look great on many asians) but I dunno if the type of blonde hair counts or not.

Don't want to ruin her hair... Sure it might not but sometimes it's better not to take the chance at all. (Besides if it does ruin her hair and she is an actor or model then it could hurt her ability to get work and thus income.) Which is why I suggested a wig, because if a wig gets damaged so what? take it off, throw it out then get a new one later that day or whatever.

Thats a good idea aswell, but hey its a win win situation. Well personally I think if she can play the part really well then she should get it.

Well its been nine days since the day he said he'd start filming in five days. So maybe they'll update the site later. I wouldn't mind seeing screenshots, I said earlier I was curious about how the costumes looked.

Feb. 10th at 1:56PM, filming officially started ;D. The footage looks AMAZING. Very grand, professional, and atmospheric. The bad news? Stills will not be publicly released until March 1st HOWEVER if you contact me via e-mail, I MIGHT make an exception .... PS: The first and second day of shooting don't involve the MM costume. They are mostly scenes from early on in the film before Wily steals the bots.

I gotta ask, when your shooting do you ever catch yourself viewing it like the final version. (EX- like you see all the effects in place and the music going? And everything exactly as you'd like to see it? )

From the get-go, I have a vision of how every shoot works, how the effects will look, and how the music will play.
IE. When Wily enters the lab dramatically to reprogram the robot masters, I know how each robot will react and move once activated and how Wily's theme will swell when we see him plotting his attacks.
I'm able to go on location knowing what I want but also allowing the actors and VFX team to have the freedom to be creative. Very actor understands the character they are playing and, at times, embody the characters. The actors casted for this film are the nicest, more generous people you can meet. You REALLY care about pleasing the audience.
