My question is: Does Megaman really what it takes to "beat" the "competition"?
I mean.. Sonic has it's speed and a mix of little everything into one big game of crap, but the kind of crap that people enjoy for a while. Mario has it's 'save the freaking princess for the 1000th time' trademark storyline and some innovations along with cartoon-like graphics.
But, what is it you guys enjoy that makes you all "megaman, yay" fans?

I don't really like Megaman myself. That is to say I dislike X. I like the Zero series alot and what I like about that is the whole attention to detail, enemies actually get cut in half as opposed to blowing up, the music's addicting, there's actually a sound for your foot hitting the ground. I'm not one for reptition but if it's fun, then hacking enemies to bits repeatedly is something I'd enjoy. For example I just use the Z-Saber through most of the MMZ games(MMZ4 being an exception becuase of the Z-Knuckle).

rockman- the kid's a friggin blue bomber. plus his ally and rival get attention too(Proto and bass)
Rock X- limitless potential. He's killed his enemy countless times and damn right he'll do it again cuz he's just skilled like that.
Legends- has great potential to go to the next gen. consoles.
other megaman ganre games would most likely end up like that exe gamecube game I beat so fast I forgot I even had it.
X and legends have great potential to be next gen. games. thats why.

The games are more frustrating then they are fun. I don't like Megaman or Megaman X games. Legends was good, but it was boring after awhile. All you do is shoot, move some, shoot, and buy upgrades. Not much going on there. Also, you shoot.

Well, the original games had started that "vampiric" trait, where if you kill a powerful enemy, you take their power as your own. It kinda died in the Battle Network series, but that had getting chips that had ALL enemies attacks. The X series, although the Final boss was predictable, you could get armor, and the powers were pretty cool...and less predictable. It was supposed to be Zero as the playable charecter...but, they felt it would confuse the stupid public... The Zero series was a nice change, both gamepley wise and art style. No more huge legs and arms, the ability to effortlessly switch weapons...but the "vampiric" trait was also lost there...Instead, there were EX Skills, which were simplistic inputs that you could do over and over....I rather like the ZX series, even if it's just started. The multiple forms gives a person a chance to choose how they want to kill. I prefer PX, X, and ZX/OX. And now, in Advent, that "vampiric" trait comes back with a vengence. You don't just take a bosses power....you take their form as well. The Legends series I consider a good series. Well, a 3D Megaman game with huge dungeons and a mass of Buster fodder, with plot twists like Twizzlers...I like the random weapons you get along the way. The Shining Laser was a bit over powered though... I wonder what could happen in the future?

There's 1 thing that really make me like it. The difficulty. Almost all games I've been playing are easy. But the rockman franchise is an game that takes some skills. Not just an: first try won. admit it, is there ANYONE that finished MM7 without having at least 5 times: GAME OVER on his screen? Then I began to like the cutscenes, and stuff like that.

Some people may not like Megaman but.. I REALLY like it. The thing that probably captivated me the most was chatacter designs. MM is also very original, the gameplay is usually fast paced, and the plot is pretty good. (For most games.)

I like the X (well from the X series to the Start of the ZX series) series because the story as darker, the character designs were cool and original (not just take random object name, slap man on the end of it and have a robot based around it fight megaman...) The music was cool with some pretty good sounding tracks (The highway theme, chill penguin, Storm eagle, boomer kuwanger, Zeros theme, X2 theme, etc...) The battles were the right mix of strategy and action. Every enemy had a pattern to study and figure out, once found you could decimate them. Then there were the weapons you got from the bosses, they were fun to use. It made the game fun just experimenting and playing with the additional weapons. The armors were cool (especially in later games where you had multiple ones.)

the original megaman is the father of all shooting games like metriod and halo Uh...WTH are you talking about? Doom for the PC and Marathon for the Mac were the grandaddies of FPS games and TPS games, not megaman. Megaman is a sidescroller, it is in no way an FPS although Legends was TPS. It wasn't the father of all shooting games.

Dude, make some research. Metroid - 1986 Megaman - 1987 This remind me of something else.. Didn't the Metroid series evolved much more than Megaman?

heck no. there've been a few who would win questions, and most come up with mega winning.
and then you're asking about developement?! 5+ diffrent devolpments and where did samus go?...hell, did she even evolve?...to me she's been the same as when she was 8-bit! heck, I wonder who's fought who more: X and sigma or Samus and riley...
