actually i think its still called a buster in the Z series. thats why its called the Z-Buster and ciel says
"Zero you cant harm it with your buster!"

I'm guessing for the buster there are 2 types that they use, the cannon type (like X's) and then the pistol type (that Zero gets from the guy in the beginning of Zero 1)
but as far as the new vs old designs, I favour the old designs slightly more, (even if it has the booblights, it still lacks the pelvic thrust, and the thong-like panties.) but also because MMX's Zero's stance is more normal looking, and generally conveys an attitude of "your in for a world of pain" while the newer Zero's seems to say "I'm bored, I don't care so leave me be."
MMX Zero also has the buster built into his arm, which is where it should be, it doesn't look right (to me) for him to be using the pistol type buster.

The guns are busters like the MMX series ones but they're adapted to human use, humans can't have cannons in their arms.
It's quite an improvement (not suprised since it's a whole bunch of years after MMX), being able to have such a powerful weapon in the form of a normal gun.

then how come zeros buster is more powerful than the other busters? is it because zero can use the elemental energy in his body to transfer to the gun?

well noone else uses a saber in the MMZ series. plus if the buster was just a regular buster then how come it was more powerful than the rest? cause if he got his buster from the dead soldiers body then..

well it might be possible he had a better model, it seemed like he was a superior before he died, and EXUSE ME, but MMZ saber kicks a$$ i barely use the buster lol

I doubt anyone could just use the saber during the entirety of the game, as there other instances when a buster (or shield, recoil rod, etc.) is useful.
