Just to add on to everything everybody said, a lot of games are based off of myths, like Myth. ;D but the game developers add their own twists. No one is that creative, everyone needs something as a foundation. think of a WWII game. it speaks for it self. besides, i like mytholigy, and videogames, so it fits in perfectly well. Perfect does not exist, only as a word. ok im done....

Even though Neo Arcadia was supposedly a safe haven, it sucked there more then having your parents say "Hey, ____, were going to New York, but your being sent to Neverland Ranch." OMFG that would suck.... but anyway the point of it was a safe place for humans and repiloids, weil decided to be an evil son of a _______ any way he does sound like the evil king. i wonder if any other megaman games have a myth reference?

yup definitely megaman 6- centaur man- a character from a greek myth ( one of hercules' myths i believe ).
eurasia- the name of the space colony in x5, is also a place on earth ( though i can't remember where the name comes from ) i know it means the asia ( just an alternate name. )
spiral pegasus- the X5 boss, pegasus was hercule's flying horse.
ragnarok- the name of the giant cannon in zero 4, is also the term used to describe the end of the world when the titans would break free from their imprisonment and attempt to destroy olympus (and the world)
there are probably more but i can't think of them at this point.

Well, most of the enemy's in mmz are based on myth and religion. MMZ1: Anubis Aztec falcon Herculious Anchus is probally based of Hercules Maha Ganeshariff, Ganesh, the Hindu elephant god. MMZ2: Phoenix I think that snake guy is mythical too but I'm not sure MMZ3: The big cerberus guy MMZ4: Heat Genblem could be turtle island but thats just guessing. -_- Mino Magnus -Minotaur Pegasolta Eclair- Pegasus Popla Cockapetri-cockatrice Tech Kraken- Huqe squid Of course we also have Harpiua- Harpy Leviathan- Seamonster Pantheon- en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pantheon_%28gods%29Golems A giant scorpion in MMZ2 You know, I could go on and on about this, if I looked the remaining names up on the internet

That ragnarok bit isn't really apart of Greek myth. Fefnir- Possibly derive from Fafnir from Norse mythology. Eurasia- Several landmasses from Europe and Asia. Thus it's name, Eurasia, Europe + Asia Yggdrasil- Norse myths, the tree of life.

my mistake, i didn't mean to mix the myths but i couldn't remember the proper term for it (the greek mythology does have a term for the ragnarok though.) though i do know that a religion does use the term ragnarok to describe the end of the earth, ( it may be the norse but i can't remember for sure. )

Ragnarok is norse, it was said when Loki would be released from the bowels of the earth, A gigantic battle would took place between gods and Loki (an probally Loki's minions if he had them) Nord people believed that those who lead an honorful live would be taken to the halls of Valhalla to wait for Ragnarok to fight alongside Odin.
And about Eurasia, wasn't that simply a prehistoric landmass?
By the way: The greek word for the end of the world is "Eschatology" maybe that is the term viruszero meant?

Well what i meant was story line, not just names. Well, most of the megaman games really don't have a storyline... STANDARD PLOT MEGAMAN: MEGAMAN: OMFG! WILY HAS MADE ROBOTMASTER!!!one WILY: LOL you ARE GOING TO DIE LOL! MEGAMAN: NEVA! *shoots wily's machine thingy* Teh edn X series aren't much different >.> Maybe the later games but I haven't played those so I can't tell. I guess the best series to look for mythical similarities are the Zero-series. Because those have the best thought out plot.

That was probably due to the early Megaman franchise revolved around gaming and it being a side-scroller which makes it a little more difficult to pull out anything too fancy especially with the early systems.

I'm not accusing them for lazyness or anything. I was just stating that it is unneccesary to look for mythical similarities in the earlier games.

Virus Zero's connection to Zeus and the king did make a lot of sense, and I wouldn't doubt it that Zero 4 was based off of some kind of mythology. But the common misconception is on the word Utopia. By it's very definition, a utopia cannot exist. This is evident in the Zero games with the corruption of Neo Arcadia and the harsh descrimination against reploids that Copy X holds.
