I think it was used to just make money. Come on the original Megaman series rocked...and Megaman's name was not replaced by "X!" Protoman was also replaced by "Zero!" What do you think? The only problem is...well Dr.Wily only made Robots with Man at the end of there names....I think Dr.Wily has his Sex confused....

ALL video games are just made to make money.
As for the x series, its very different from classic. Megaman is not the same robot as x and protoman is not the same as zero.
Wily's robot masters are finally defeated and sereval repliods designed to uphold justice go maverick and become the new enemies. The story is drastically different.

I hope you aren't comparing MMX with MMBN. They are completely different, plus X is better =D
