i dont think there is an actionscript code for fading. whenever you tween an object, use the alpha option.

take what ever you want to fade, then on the timeline (when it's in it's own layer) right click, choose tween, then add a few frames (depending on how fast you want it to fade) then on the last frame where you want it all faded in or out click on the keyframe in the timeline and then in the properties bar choose alpha and raise of lower the bar beside it, the object will either fade out or fade in accordingly.

What alpha? their ain't no Alpha in the properties bar!

See if the image you want to fade is a Symbol and not a Shape. I think it only works on Symbols but meh, haven't worked in flash for a few months, getting rusty
