Sprite handling.
1) Open Flash MX, go to File> Import> Import to Stage...
2) Select which sprite sheet you'll be using.
3) Import it, and it should be selected. Keep it selected, and go to Modify> Bitmap> Trace Bitmap...
You'll get this window (bottom right corner of picture)
4) Modify it so it looks like so.
5) Tracing bitmap.. may take very long, or even crash Flash MX is the picture is too big.
6) Tada! It's now traced pixel by pixel.
7) The background is still there, unfortunately. So click off, on some blank space. Then select the background and delete it. Be sure to zoom in to get every single background pixel left behind in between pixels.
8) Good, now that it's gone, we can almost get to work. But the sword on my sprite is white at one part, so I can't see it because of the background.
9) Make another layer, and place it underneath the current layer. Create a box of a color that isn't similar to any color on the sprite, and then lock the layer with the background.
10) Select the sprite...
11) ..and then group it. Repeat for all the sprite in the sheet you'll be using.
12) For example, I'll use these sprites.
13) Select the first sprite in the sequence, then go to Modify> Convert to Symbol...
14) Select Movie Clip, name it whatever you wish.
15) Cut out the other sprites in sequence.
16) Double click on the movie clip sprite, and paste the rest of the sprites inside of the movie clip.
17) Make another keyframe a few frames later, depending on how fast you want it to go. Then place it about the same position as the other sprite. Delete the older sprite, and cut the other sprites. Repeat this, each time putting in the next sprite, and deleting the others. Double click somewhere off the movie clip to exit it.
18) Here it is!
