I'm not doing a top ten. Too lazy. You'll settle for a top five.
Number 5: Simon Belmont's Extended Chain Whip (Super Castlevania IV for Super Nintendo) I'll admit, this probably should be higher on the list, but I rank it so low because the game's jumping physics feel so stiff and awkward (I'm told that the NES Castlevania games had it even worse. Yikes.), you can't whip down without jumping and it's nearly impossible to aim on the stairs without moving around. Some of you might read this and (logically) assume that I should've put Zero's Chain Rod from Mega Man Zero 2 in instead, since they're essentially the same weapon but Zero 2 has none of the problems above. And I would, but there are three reasons I didn't. I did this list backwards, and already had an entry from the Mega Man series by the time I got here (My Top 10 5 lists go by ScrewAttack rules; One entry per-franchise), you can't hold down the attack button and swing Zero's Chain Rod limply around, and finally, you can't make Zero Moonwalk.
Number 4: Quick Boomerang (Mega Man 2 for NES) Screw Metal Blade, this is the most overpowered weapon in Mega Man 2. A better rate of fire and ammo efficiency far out-way the omnidirectional shooting, which if I recall correctly Capcom gave up on in Mega Man after three until Rockman & Forte, way late into the Super Famicom's life.
Number 3: The Razor Sword (Majora's Mask for the N64; Hopefully also the 3DS someday) While it doesn't quite stack up to the Great Fairy's Sword or even the Gilded Sword in terms of length or power, it's got'em both licked in the most important area when it comes to an audience; Style.
Number 2: Rose Nasty (No More Heroes 2 for Wii) What's more awesome than a light sabre? Two light sabres. And only real Jedi wield pink light sabres. My desktop background isn't of Travis wielding Rose Nasty for nothing.
Number 1: Batman (Batman for the NES) This needs no explanation. So instead, I shall just quote some impromptu brentalfloss lyrics from ScrewAttack's Top 10 8-Bit Boss Themes (Bitches). "I am Batman, mo-fo'! I am Batman, mo-fo'! Don't sit on the sofo'!"
Now some of you make take issue with my list's lack of Cloud's Buster Sword or Master Chief's CompensateForThis-O-Matic Gun(tm) or whatever, but all I can tell you is this; Make your own damn list, these are my preferences.

10- Hidden Blade (Assassin's Creed 2) - Stealthy, quick and somewhat mysterious. All things that describe this fairly advanced, yet ancient weapon. It makes for some spectacular takedowns, but given the limited range and the fact it's best suited for stealth makes this number 10. 9- Beowulf (Devil May Cry 3) - A localized disaster in the hands of a skilled user... Fire bolts of energy from the hands, columns of light from the ground, and create wicked crazy combos. Though it's power is pretty high, the range isn't as good and it's only really effective against smaller groups of enemies so it only gets in at 9. 8- Proton Pack (Ghostbusters the videogame) - This one is sort of a cheat since it's not really a weapon... (Though it sure can cause a ton of property damage.) It's got a huge range, nearly unlimited ammo and that cool sound effect when it powers up. On the downside though, it'd probably be tough for anyone to control as the beam wants to arc wildly and using more than one at a time presents a risk of crossing the streams (a definitely bad idea). 7- Lightsaber (Star Wars: The Force Unleashed) - It blocks lightning, blasters and other lightsabers... It can sever limbs, bodies or sections of walls. Truly a powerful weapon... if it didn't take so much training and finesse to use it properly. 6- Stealth Camo (Metal Gear Solid 4) - "Just because you can't see me doesn't mean I can't still hurt you" is the motto of this weapon/equipment. It can be used for stealthy takedowns, shakedowns, assaults or whatever, not just running and hiding. It's a truly terrifying thought that your enemy could be anywhere and you can't see them... 5- Auger MK2 (Resistance 2) - It shoots through walls. And on top of that it lets you see who is on the other side as well. There is almost no escape from this gun... Even if you have camouflage. 4- VC5 Arc rifle (Killzone 2) - So the gun looks kinda strange looking... until you see it fire. It fires lightning at quite a distance (though not as long as some of the other weapons here) and has an infinite supply of ammo. The lightning also arcs from enemy to enemy. No Helghast warrior would dare mess with you while you're toting this beast. 3- Iron Man armor (Marvel: Ultimate Alliance/X-men Legends 2) - Another cheat entry given that it's originally from comics. But this miraculous exosuit provides a wealth of destructive powers (such as repulsor lasers, energy blasts, uni-beam super laser, missile strikes, gamma radiation attacks and more. ) And it defends the wearer too. It really is a complete package. 2- Ryno 4 Extreme / Omega Ryno 4Ever (Racthet and Clank: Tools of Destruction) - It fires heat seeking energy blasts at 20 per second that turn most enemies (and bosses) to goo in seconds. Couple that with a very large range and very little can escape the might of the weapon. Even on the tougher difficulty, the regular Ryno 4 Extreme chews through enemy armor without a thought. 1- X-buster/Armor (X series) - Unlimited ammo, charge shots, huge range, a variable weapon system and lots of room for future upgrades? Oh yes, this is an amazing weapon. Especially if you throw in all the wealth of options X has accumulated over the years. (64 maverick powers, 14-16 armors and a beam saber.) So that's my list, I tried to avoid putting real world weapons in, or multiple weapons from the same game series.

A little late ,but its my turn.
10. Arc Edge
This is weapon weilded by Rue during the game Threads of Fate or Dewprism in japan its an Axe ,butt he one question that always baffles most realists is how the heck can he use the weapon with one hand. Well he is a doll so he's not human so quit bugging about it! Other than that its a fun hack and slash weapon and in some battles you can even block with it.
9. Z Buster X6 version
Out of the many busters Zero has gotten to use during X to X6 this buster stood out for me because in Megaman X6 the thing is a broken weapon that you can abuse if you don't feel like slashing things with Zero's new refined Z saber slashing style. Though you couldn't necessary move with this weapon its strength is based on how close you can hit your enemy not range at all its like a shotgun meets magnum goodness plus its a bit if not more powerful than X's X buster which can be charged and fired in a 3 or if you have the rapid 5 part 5 shots. This one is awesome go test it out if you feel like going through X6 as Zero. Its very satisfying when use it on enemies who happen to be ready to be blasted with it.
8. Drill Arm Megaman Legends 2 version
Now you are all wondering how in the hell did this weapon get in my top 10 list of awesome? Well if you know how to use the weapon even though its main purpose was for drilling through walls it can be used quite well with practice and proper timing sadly this weapon is useful beginning to mid game then after that you dump it for you buster cannon or hypershell sub weapons. It has the amusing factor of turning your enemies into butter one hit and gone. This is of course you know how yo use it like I do.
7. Alastor Devil May Cry
This hands down is one of my favorite weapons in all of Devil May Cry it had thunder effects and it was beautiful piece of sword after you pull it out of your chest even though it plays similer akin to Rebellion in later games it was a satisfying weapon and I didn't care for the Sparda so I used this weapon all the way in all difficulty settings in the first Devil May Cry game.
6. Black Hawk Fallout 3
when I got this weapon I abused the thing as a finisher gun or if I really felt like dispatching my foes with vengence. Sure there is Callahan and Paulson's Revolver ,but this one just felt right to me. It really gave my character an edge if I really needed it. My favorite moment with this weapon was in the last technical mission when you invade the Jefferson memorial and stand off with Col Autumn and I head shot the punk with one blow. and his head went flying into the water of the Jefferson memorial.
5. Boomerang any Legend of Zelda Game ,but Twilight Princess
The Boomerang... Its usefulness has saved my hide plenty of times so many that I feel that this weapon should always be with me if I could allow it for most people it was the hookshot or possibly the arrows ,but no the boomerang is my weapon of choice that sets up your enemies for a world of hurt and it could pick up things. My favorite boomerang was in Legends of Zelda oracle of seasons when it was upgraded to the magical verison because you could control it and it could damage certain enemies in rapid succession.
4. The Giga Armor Megaman X2
I know this counts as a set ,but this armor was my personel favorite over all other armors concieved. The double shot worked wonders if you aimed it right of course ,but I loved it I could plow through any enemy with this in too bad there will never be a remake to X2 or even replica version of this armor ,but then again alia will screw it up so no its stays in X2 forever.
3. The Bible Castlevania Rando of blood original and remake
I know right? What am I thinking the cross and knives got nothing on this beast of a weapon if used right you could get away with murder as Richter. How the Bible works is its placed out and it spins in a circle that gets bigger and bigger which can multihit bosses and enemies even block enemy fire. A useful weapon ,but costly on hearts and it item crash sucks.
2. The Holy Water Castlevania Symphony of the night version
This weapon was useful because you can throw mulitple bottles of it at your enemies and it could damage quickly and slow enemy movement as it was used. I loved this sub weapon to death if I could utilize it ,but of course it doesn't work on flying enemies.
1. Bomb abillity Kirby Super Star original and remake
This was my favorite abillity of all time in super star next to the sword, cutter, hammer and plasma abillities. This abillity is considered the most powerful abillity in the projectile department and being able to throw it anywhere with and infinite suplly made my day. My favorite move is only with the helper because Kirby can't perform bomb rain that well ,but I could fly around as the helper and rain bombs and practically defeat everything another favorite move with this abillity is constant bomb sheild if an enemy was moving towards you just lay bombs right near you and enemies couldn't touch you. of course the trick it timing an when the bomb wants to blow w=o=up which should happen in a few seconds after each time you lay the bomb.

1- Yamato (DMC3-4) Besides that it was rather stylish, it had a good amount of power. In DMC4, I found it rather useful to get the hardiest enemies flinch. It was also a good combo tool.
2- Rebellion (DMC) Most used weapon ever. Fast, powerful, and great for comboing. It had the downside that it was no good in fights against multiple opponents due to Thousand Stab.
3- Alien Blaster (Fallout) It's awesome. Nearly every shot is a critical, and it has high power, meaning against most enemies, it will kill them in one shot.
4- Automatic Shotgun (Left 4 Dead 1 and 2) What? It's useful. Can clear a whole charge in a few bursts, and deal huge damage to infecteds such as witches and tanks.
5- Carriers (Starcraft 1 and 2) Carriers, when massed can be quite the game-breaker. They make good attack, since they let out several tiny planes that attack the enemy. Furthermore, if they are destroyed, more can be made. Unlike most units, if the other player isn't paying attention to their units against a carrier attack, the Carriers will have made much damage, before their units even begin attacking the carrier.
6- Red Queen (DMC4) Fun weapon, a bit hard to master due to the Exceed. A bit slow, weaker in raw attack, but one of the most perfect comboing weapons ever, due to the potential of the Exceed guage.
7- Bow and Arrow (Legend of Zelda in general) I love this weapon. Even moreso in Twilight Princess, since I can use it on the horse. Upgrades such as the fire and ice arrows in Windwaker make this weapon very ideal in actual combat other than practical use such as freezing or burning environments.
8- Chinese Dragoon Armor (Fallout 3) Dear god I loved this thing. When crouched, you're practically undetectable. This makes it easy to get sneak attacks, furthermore with enough on the Stealth stat, with this, as long as you're crouched they can't see you, so you can hit them as many times as you want, so long as you're crouched.
9- Hidden Blade (Assassin's Creed) I'd put it higher, but stealth came before the weapon. Although a hard weapon to master, since about anyone can kill with this, it's actually the deadliest weapon in direct combat also. Given that it's counter ability is so much harder, it can kill ANYTHING if countered right. Even what your sword couldn't take in three counters, the Hidden Blade can take them down in one. Furthermore, can be added with poison and a gun equipped.
10- Black Lightsaber (Force Unleashed) Well, it's nothing special. It's a lightsaber, but black. It's here purely because it's a lightsaber, and that it's really stylish. They could've done a better job and make the slash tails black as well though.

Except that it wasn't anymore useful in Twilight Princess than any other 3D Zelda, since horseback archery has been possible in every Zelda that had a horse ( Twilight Princess merely let you use everything else) and you didn't even get any magical arrows. Though I'll admit the sniper scope made that BLAM (Big Lipped Alligator Moment) of a western shoot-out before you met Impaz easier, although less exhilarating.

Let's see...
10- BFG (Doom series): While I haven't played much of Doom, I can say that knowing you have the biggest f-ing gun ever is quite the emotional experience.
9- Possession (Abe's Oddysee): Kinda cheating, but it is Abe's only weapon against the minion's of his corporate masters. Plus, nothing is funnier than having a Slig slap his buddy and get shot in return. Or beating down a few Mudokons for the more sadistic ;D.
8- Lumina (Brave Fencer Musashi): The Sword of Luminescence, able to harness the power of the five elemental scrolls to repel evil. I always found this glowing red sword to be pretty cool. Although I am a purest when it comes to the elements, the addition of Sky to the original four worked pretty well.
7- Master Sword (Zelda series): While it may seem simple, the Master Sword does inspire a feeling of power and confidence. The design is great and really does it's job of making the sword seem important.
6- Soul Calibur/Edge (Soul series): The ultimate swords of good and evil, who draw in powerful souls to continue their everlasting conflict. The design for both of them is pretty awesome, at least before Soul Calibur IV...
5- Chaos Emerald (Sonic series): Sources of incredible energy that can do amazing things in the hands of someone who knows how to use them. Plus, being able to turn a blue hedgehog into a super saiyan us pretty awesome.
4- Keyblade (Kingdom Hearts): The key of destiny, it is the only weapon that can bring light to all worlds cloaked in darkness. Although it's kinda strange at first, the Keyblade is a pretty awesome weapon.
3- V-Watch (Viewtiful Joe): "Henshin-a-go-go, baby!" A watch that turns you into a super hero? Who wouldn't want one?
2- Mega Buster (Mega Man): A lot has already been said about this, but I have to agree, the infinite potential in this weapon is really staggering. Definitely one of my faves.
1-Buster Sword (Final Fantasy VII): I know a lot of people think this game is overrated, but no one can deny how awesome this weapon is. While it's size seems ridiculous if you think about it, that really isn't the point. If you were a kid/young teen when this game came out, there was no way you couldn't look at Cloud holding that sword and be amazed by how cool it was.
