Alright, for those of you who pay attention to the movies you have more than likely seen ads for the new movie Scott Pilgram vs The World right? Well the story is based off a manga series that has done quite well.
With the release of the movie, a game was made. Because the movie and book have alot of common video game effects in them an actual game was known to happen.
This game, is like a compilation of several titles that I can think of off the top of my head. The first being Mario 2 and 3. You pick your character in a Mario 2 style, but you then have an overworld like mario 3 with pipes and dancing clouds. Vary nice.
Now then, gameplay is a basic beat them up style. I can best relate it to Ninja Turtles: Turtles through Time. You can move up and down, and all around. You have two attack buttons, light attack which you can combo and heavy attack, which is a single attack. You can make move combos with these such as running and attacking which makes a slightly stronger version of the attack that keeps you moving. As you progress you level up and unlock moves to use that make your fighting more versital. You have two special moves, one that attacks all around you and one for summoning an NPC. The effects vary for the characters.
As you beat opponets they drop coins, like in the movie, and with that you can buy items. Items range from food, to clothing, to Cds and so on. These upgrade your stats. you don't know what they do till you buy it, but you can usually guess based on the items description and items that relate to other items. (Like a vegan cookbook to a vegan dinner)
There are 8 stages, and you can unlock two characters from the book series. You start off with Scott, the main character, Romona, Scotts girlfriend who is the woman that causes all this, Kim, Scotts ex but the drummer in their band, and Steven, the Singer of the band.
The game is in 16 bit and has awesome music, I highly recommend it.
