So much cool stuff has come out of E3 this year that I wanted to make a thread about it. This is more of a general awareness/what are you most excited/apprehensive about thread, if you want to go more in depth about a game you should probably make a different thread for it. So far I thought that Nintendo had the most to show off, though the thing I'm most excited for is Star Wars The Old Republic. SWTOR just looks amazing, and they've finally revealed some of the alien races you can play as, as well as that there will be speeder bikes and other vehicles that you can ride, including a personal space ship for each player. They'll work similarly to KOTOR's Ebon Hawk and Mass Effect's Normandy, but you can have your friends on your ship and everything. SWTOR is doing daily updates until E3 is over on their blog and website, which I think is cool, and among other things they released a trailer called "Hope" showcasing the battle of Alderan. I'd thought that the "Decieved" cinematic was a one time thing, but it seems like they'll be doing these periodically. I'm psyched for this game, I can't wait till next spring. Also because it seems to fix all the flaws I find in WoW and because they send mocking little remarks to Blizzard like "How is 25 people beating on a single target supposed to feel 'epic' let alone 'heroic'?" and "We definately won't waste your time collecting velocirapter toenails when you're questing." Love it. Next game I've got to play is Golden Sun, most of you know I'm a huge GS fanboy and I've been waiting years for this. Can't wait to see where they go with the story and what they do now that technology has increased. Speaking of waiting years to play, my friend and I have always said that if game co.s wanted to get the FPS genre back on track they ought to remake Goldeneye, leave everything the same but update the graphics. Every shooter that comes out they'll quote some dumb critic on the back of the box "Heir apparent to Goldeneye" or "Best shooter since Goldeneye." Finally, they're bringing back Goldeneye. With online multiplayer. Couldn't be happier. Its Zelda, what else needs be said. I think the graphics look a bit Wind Waker esque but I can handle them. Its Zelda. The new whip looks pretty cool. Team Ninja can do no wrong. Go go Other M. I'm both surprised this game is being made and surprised by how much I want to play it. Kid Icarus looks fantastic, who'd have thought that Pit would look so good. I'm only concerned that it looks exactly like Brawl, the character models, the enemies, the world. I really hope they don't half this game because I'm looking forward to playing it. I don't have a PS3 but I'll borrow my friend's for this. I hope Nintento is watching and taking notes, Sony is doing motion control right. This looks really good. I thought that the first game was enjoyable, hopefully they've improved on it. He's got 2 sabers now at least. I always thought 2D Donkey Kong was under-appreciated, I enjoyed the old DK games more than Mario World. Less so than 2D Sonic and Megaman but that's not important, I think I'll like this game. Its Halo. Looks solid. I'll give it a shot. Can't read the German but it looks pretty good. I'm waiting to see more, don't know if I'll be impressed or if I've seen it all before. I think Need for Speed has just gotten worse and worse over the years, but this one looks like it could be good. I like mixing it up and letting certain players be the cops and other players the racers. I only hope they bring back the helicopters dropping bombs on you. I'll give this a chance. Loved the first Fable to death, thought the second one was meh. I'm hoping this one will tie it all together and make me happy again.

Nintendo won E3.
Did not enjoy Sony, Microsoft, Konami and Ubisoft's conferences. At all.

Metal Gear Rising just look outstanding. Raiden was always cool but now that he has his own game where you can do whatever you want in it is awesome. I can cut a watermelon if I want to!
The other two I really want to play are Kirby's Epic Yarn and DK4. Both are games I grew up with when I wasn't playing Mega Man so this is going to be great!

The only vid Chaos posted that I care about is the Skyward Sword trailer. The first thing I want to talk about is the visual style. It looks like they're taking Twilight Princess's design philosophy and preserving it in Wind Waker's cel-shading. This is a good idea in theory, but for me it's just making the game look the worst of the three (Note: I actually enjoyed Wind Waker's visual style. It was expressive, endearing, what it did with special effects just blows me away, and it's still as gorgeous today as it was in 2003.). Now, the items. Nothing to report yet, though I noticed Link had both a sling-shot and a bow. Nintendo, we'd better not have both in our inventory at the same time. Like, maybe the mid-boss we defeat to get the bow could eat the sling-shot as part of it's death animation? Now, for the actual gameplay... I notice the rope-swinging from Wind Waker makes a return. I am glad. But I also notice the vine-climbing from Twilight Princess. It'd better not be slower than molasses in winter time again, Nintendo.
But in more important news, while it wasn't announced at E3, anyone following Nintendo of America's Twitter should already know that Nintendo is remaking Ocarina of Time for the 3DS. My first thought was "I hope a Majora's Mask remake will follow shortly after." My second was that I'll finally get to see an Adult Malon who has actual breasts, as opposed to the N64's method of either stuffing a cereal box under a woman's shirt (Malon, Zelda, Anju) or making them look like breast cancer survivors (Great Fairies, Impa, the snooty lady in Castle Town who's doggy keeps running off on her.). Be right back, something just came up.

The Wii gets its own Zelda game and Pitt gets to be in a full length adventure game again ,but in his own real 3D game yay. Not to keen on the Wii controls I was hoping they have a version without the wii motion ability throws me off so much. As for the the 3DS remake upon remake huh? Nothing really new then to look foreward to on Nintendo's next hand held. Remakes are fine ,but that is it so far. Disapointing ,but so far this year Nintendo owned the show I'd see not much from Microsoft and Sony a shame.

To me..Raiden from metal gear solid 2 was pretty gay. If you ever played him, it was creepy. Something about him why he is killing just because he loved to play video games when he was young.
But in MGS4, ponani (i mean, konami), fixed him like pancake glory. He was like snake eyes, sneaky little bastard. He was one of those characters that were just too bad-a to play.
I'd like to see konami not screw this up, since they are the gods of sneaking games. They stomp on splinter cell

When it came to games like contra and castlevania maybe ,but with the Metal Gear series its a mixed bag.
The real Metal gear never came to America along with the second and we got a very crappy copy for the Nintendo.
Metal Gear Solid of pure orgasmic awesomeness: hint hint roll around in Ketchup fool the soldiers to think your dead.
Metal Gear Solid 2: substance or something patriots can't remember made a switch to Raiden weird, faggy and creepy though admittly deep character to finally sorta making sense as to why Snake only got maybe some downtime from his sleuthing sorta till you figure out he is Pleiskin whatever. The only thing worth while in this game was the comedic value of Raiden.
Metal Gear Solid 3: Took us back in time of the Big Boss aka Naked Snake and gave us a new idea of sneaking by eating whatever comes your way. Though the one thing amusing I found with this was the Time Paradox game overs.
Metal Gear Solid 4: It was just a movie that's it ,but hay it reinvented Raiden and showed how much better he was then Grey Fox after he got 2 demensional in Metal Gear Solid by Metal Gear Rex. Oh and when we got to see an older Snake still dish it out one last time.
Not including much of the extra or the side games ,but yeah the Metal Gear Series is a mixed bag for the most part ,but each game has its quirks.

Metal Gear Rising looks pretty cool though I think it's very likely going to be a deviation from stealth to more of an action game. Why? because Raiden in his cyborg form is tough. (The end of act 4 of MGS4 oughta prove that. ) And Konami will likely want to highlight that and thusly make him play a bit differently from the physically weaker Snake.
Also... the Zan-datsu looks awesome. Especially where they demoed him dicing the cyborg thing using the game (not through prerendered cinematics. Which do look beautiful, but they don't give us hints at what the gameplay will be like.) And I couldn't help but laugh when they had him cutting the watermelon.
Personally though, I never played the Metal Gear series, I started with Metal Gear Solid... So I can't comment on the original series, but I do think that the MGS offers some of the most amazing moments in gaming. As well Kojima and Konami bring a level of presentation that puts Hollywood to shame. (MGS1... Rising from the elevator at the beginning. Meeting Rex. The fight with Grey Fox and the Hind D. MGS4... Act4 in general. But especially when they do the double fight scene. If I wasn't focused on shooting the targets, I'd just have loved to watch the fight.)
Though, Nazeres, Raiden didn't kill because he played games as a kid... He was a child soldier and he was forced to be one by Solidus Snake (aka the bad guy of MGS2) before he got recruited by Foxhound to be trained the next Solid Snake. Though when they were training Raiden, they used the Shadow Moses situation as one of the major virtual reality training simulations. Basically making Raiden walk the path of Snake.

To Nazeres its Swabie5.
Overall my opinion of the new metal gear game is a bit iffy because the games were all about stealth if done right. The slashing kinda ruins what metal gear is about. Though I admit seeing Raiden reformed in this matter is alright after he obtained the Electric Katana of Grey Fox or Hilda can't remember... Right He got it from Solid Snake.

@virus: It's not a stealth game. All Metal Gear games have been subtitled as 'Tactical Espionage Action' while Rising is subtitled as 'Lightning Bolt Action'
Noone liked MGS2 because it was actually deep and astonishing (That damned ending), and I doubt many who played it understood it fully.
Kojima is known for his storytelling, and MGS3 and MGS4 showed that to its full potential. (Though MGS4 had few gameplay)
Raiden was a special character, and I think turning him into a cyborgninja threw away MGS2's point, but hey, that doesn't make him any less badass.
MGS has like, very few average/under-average games. And it should stay that way, Kojima should stop milking it ):

It can be tough to understand if you're not really paying attention. But having all those plot twists really make things exciting. MGS4 may not have had as much gameplay as 1-3, but it had twice as much story (They were attempting to wrap up a massive story... The life of Solid Snake and everything about the Patriots. Which is quite a lot of material to get through. All the while building on everything they'd done.) and what gameplay there was, was really well done. (I'd rather have 10 hours of superb gameplay than 20 hours of "eh, it was ok" gameplay. Though really I'd love to have at least 20 hours of: "Oh yeah, that was awesome." gameplay.) As far as Raiden goes, I don't think making him the cyborg was wasting anything. I think it was a pretty good direction for him. He was introduced as this freshly trained Foxhound member off for his first mission on the Big Shell. He became entrenched in the Patriot's games more and more. (A puppet for them to jerk around and yet also instrumental to their own downfall). Then as Raiden was given the sword (Which belonged to Olga Gurlukovich right? AKA the MGS2 Ninja. ) it paved the way for him to become the Ninja for Snake in MGS4. Like the Patriots were grooming him for it the whole time. (Especially since they created Grey Fox as the ninja, and they turned Olga into the second didn't they? And any eugenics program, they always manipulate everything they can so they would get the very best results. ) And at the end of this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPgDIWxgOYANote what they say... The 5th MGS is all about Raiden. They had this planned all along. Though personally, I'd love to know more about the time when Raiden was transformed into the Ninja... What happened then? Though I'm not sure if this is milking it so much as it is explaining a gap in the timeline. A lot could have happened that has much relevance to MGS4. For example... The rise of the PMCs. The production of the Gekko. And of course what happened to Foxhound? Though I'm sure there are many other questions that could be asked/answered as well.

I can agree with one thing though the story of Metal Gear is full of twists and turns. When MGS4 came to light we knew there was going to be unfinished buisness that had to be settled right. The conlusion of Snake, Raiden's disappearence, Meryl's relationship with Snake after MGS1 that was only the tip of the iceburg of the unanswered questions. MGS2 may have not been that memorable for some people ,but it's story was defently Solid though confusing as god hell. I guess the best way to understand the story is through the Codecs with Rose or the darn intro with Snake doing a mission. To understand Raiden a bit more from other than being some sort of FOXHOUND soldeir under the patriot's version of the Colonel.

In my opinion, i could not get my hands off the storyline in MGS4 more than any of them, except MGS3. I like the rofl moments back then in MGS3 when you have to REALLY look for those playboy books (the good old days). I also remember being a showoff to my bro when i was 5 years old when i got MGS1 and beat it on almost high difficulty. To me, it was easy even for a 5 year old. I remember looking at the cutscenes and not understanding anything i saw. The only thing that i did not like that made me cry tlll this very day was the failure of using all the rockets and not saving any for the rex boss. But in MGS4, it's too easy, you can just buy it right off the bat, but altough it is a short game (game play wise) i guess it is useful. But MGS4 was the ONLY (and i'm stressing this out) the ONLY game at the end fight that made me shite on myself and gave me goosebumps since i played all the MGS games and i understood the music and the little changing life bars, and the easter eggs with ocelots emotions
