My thoughts are that while the background looks amazing, I dislike Sonic's running animation, I'd much prefer the classic 'wheel' animation. He just doesn't look like he's running to me. Also, they are giving him a homing attack, which I'm afraid will remove the necessity to time your jumps that made 2D Sonic so challanging.
However, they have stated that the game will take place immediately after the events of S3&K and will not introduce any new characters. Sonic seems to be the only playable character, and the only other character so far seems to be the Doc, I don't even think they plan to include Tails. Which is a good thing, Sonic went wrong about the time that they started making the characters talk, and introduced a bunch of useless and annoying additions. It was a game that didn't really require a story either, other than 'get to the other end of the level, and stop Robotnik from launching Death Egg'. And in its simplicity was its brilliance, as anyone who has played Doomsday Zone can attest.
On that note, there's been no mention of Super Sonic, though it can be assumed he'll be in it. Its my hope though that he and the chaos emeralds become the bonus, secret, unlockable reward that made levels super easy, as opposed to a story element and a requirement for the final boss so they can just rip off the epicness of Doomsday Zone. But who knows. Your thoughts?
