...So I woke up this morning, and went onto my computer. Actually I woke up this evening with someone calling, but regardless...
So I looked, and saw that my computer is like brand new, except I didn't need to do the steps needed to get internet. The problem that disallowed me to get my screen wallpaper is gone. My computer is no longer slow to a dying crawl.
But on the other hand, all files that I ever had are gone. My extra large collection of sprites, extra large collection of music, extra large collection of videos, extra large collection of po--.....
and most of all, my MUGEN!!!!!! AAAAAHHHHHH!!!!! MY MUGEN ARE ALL GONE!!!!!I WORKED SO HARD ON THEM!!!!
... ....... ..........
Why? Why did my computer reformat itself? And why did it take away the good things with the bad?! The sheer fact that my computer isn't slow anymore is the sole reason I haven't gone off the deep end. Does anyone have a possible explenation for this...?

Formatting cleans your hard-drive completely. Windows included. I doubt it's possible for a virus to do that, maybe it can, but not reinstall Windows afterwards.
Unless it's a virus that deletes everything except it.
That or someone formatted the PC for you.

Did someone format it while you were asleep? Or was there a storm/power outage and the data was lost? I dunno but it seems to me that the first answer is the most likely. (Someone formatted it.) You may be able to recover some of it though... Try UndeleteplusIf that program doesn't work, you can always try something like this program... Windows Data recovery. It may work better as it's designed to recover data from a formatted hard drive... Only thing is that it's shareware so I don't know what restrictions it has in place.

apparently, I lied. whoops. I found everything in the folder hidden pretty deep. I had to go through my computer's C drive, whatever that is, and through a few other folders to find EVERYTHING--even including my user preferences and whatnot-in some folder with my username on it. Whatever happened, I like it. I have access to all my stuff again, and now I got this huge speed boost as well as the fact that I can put on wallpapers again. I don't think anyone did this either. There's only one person in our family that has moderate software handling skills, and he would tell me that he did this(because he's that kind of person.) but I'll ask him anyways...

Well lets hope it that person then. Otherwise I'd really seriously keep a back up on everything just in case. On disk for the important stuff, A flash drive to store your creative goodies and music if you like ,but I take it you got so much music like I do that you need another system to support that much data. My back up os my laptop. My old comp needs to be worked because its really old and lagging terribly and some files don't work anymore. I guess thats what happend when you are stuck with apirated copy of Windows XP.

What is this, a stroke of luck...? Karma? Deus Ex Machina? Whatever it is, I thank it.

Feature to your comp perhaps... Still just keep a back up just in case.
