The other day I recevied an earily birthday gift from a good friend. Well it was the game that is in the title and i must say for a naruto game, its not all that bad.
The new RPG mode is pritty fun, being as they seemed to mix a bit of Uzimaki Cronicals with the UN3 run-around style. You have small fights in a fully 3D area, where you can punch, throw (and charge for more power) shuriken, and perform a Rasingun. As you gain experence you can perform these killer attacks by hitting triangle at the right time, most of which are most cool. However thats not all!
Theres alot of mini-missions in teh game. THe first one I found was finding 'pecies of memory' which are scattered throughout the entire game. The game said to get them all to get the full ending to 'Master Mode (RPG)' and they are EVERYWHERE! Not only them though, in the village Jirya has let loose his toads by accedent and has asked you to find them. So like the memory spheres, theres a bunch of toads. (one for each area I've noticed so far.) and the last one I have unlocked is the 'no facers gansters' who have changed there look to be just like all the ninjas in Konaha's database. (in other words every character in the game) Like the pervious ones, there are a ton of missions that you do for various characters. Mostly they're winnign a fight under certin conditions.
Aside for the questing mode theres a short story mode that has only the typical VS mode battling. Sadly this story mode only goes to the chasing sasuke arc, and is used to unlock the vast majorty of the characters. It seems that everyone from UN2 and UN3 have come back with a few exceptions. (The green beast, ANBU Kakashi, ect) theres even some doubles (difrrent movesets) of the orignal versions and the shippuuden ones. (Neji ROckl Lee, Shikamaru) And when the fighters hit each other at the same time they go into a ROck-Paper-Sissor deal. Thank God though that its not like the Bleach: Shattered Blade version. SO if you have feared that, do not worry it lasts but 3 seconds. Theres now a way where you can enter your supermode without having to do an ultiment attack. I have'nt noticed to much of a bit diffrence from teh game play though. Which is good.
Like always there is a shop in which you can buy cut scenes, music, in fight videos, and the 'toys' as they call them. Nothing really new here to tell the truth.
They finally put in fully devloped cut-scenes that I must say flow quite smoothly. Deidara's fight with Garra and Kisame with Gai looks most awesome.
I say if you have been a fan of the series I suggest playing it, its nice and will keep you entertained for awhile. If you just a naruto fan, try it, you might like it. If you don't know Sh** on naruto I don't think its a game for you. The breeze through the story with little to no explnation. This was ment to be a fan based game like teh DBZ games.
My only real complain about the game is Deidara's horribal tranlation. "My art is an Explotion!" Grrrrrrr
