I just realized something that's ironically hilarious. In X4, Zero had to kill Iris, who everyone agrees that he was either going out with or had some cheesy 'shy romance' thing going on with, right? And in the next game, the eight mavericks are named after the members of Guns N' Roses, who did a song called 'I Used to Love Her', the first two lines of which go 'I used to love her, but I had to kill her'.
