okay, so I'm trying to write files to a CD so I can take it to put the files on my XBox. Problem is, my computer can't write anything to CDs worth crap for some reason. What happends is I go through the normal process and whatnot, and everything seems to be going fine. My computer makes various sounds as if it is working to complete my objective, and right when it is done doing so, a message comes up saying that the CD's cannot store the data. THey say the CDs are full and/or damaged.
I have 245 F*cking CD's neatly stored away, and NONE of them can do the job. The CD type is CD-are and the brand is DYNEX along with Memorex. I've been good at keeping the CD's from any harm, yet the computer is not writing them. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Hmm, do you have another CD burner program you can use? if you haven't tried it already, give it a shot and see what happens. (If you don't have another CD burner, you can always download this one for free) This will help determine whether it's the drive thats faulty or the program itself. (It being if the second program is not working, then it most likely is a problem with the drive itself. ) Though an easier way to transfer music to the xbox is to use a usb jumpdrive/keydrive. (Or possibly you can load your songs from your ipod/compatible music player if you plug it into the xbox via usb.) Unfortunatly I can't tell you any further than that because I don't know, seeing as how I down't own a 360. (But the process works on the PS3 so it should be able to on the 360...)

I'd say find a better burner or check to see if the program you are using has some sort of bug in it or maybe you may need to change the format other than that I have no other ideas that could posibly help you....

Nope. Just tried the suggested program. Both it and Nero, a program my step-dad said was one of the best. I believe there's something about my computer that's the problem. M step-dad told me to check if my hardrive can even read CD's, let alone write them. That's simply the task of putting in a CD, right?

Yep, putting the disc in and seeing if it somes up with a box asking you what you'd like to do with the disc. Alternately will it let you load other discs? Cause if you can't load your cds but you can load other ones then it may be you got some defective cds in that batch...

My computer can read CDs.
but at the same time, it is unable to rewrite a CD that has been used before. It's in fine shape, and has been read on another computer. what now?

You cannot rewrite CDs unless they are CD-RWs.

The specific CD I was refering to was. But that's totally beside the point.

Is the CD-RW a positive or negative or both? Sometimes certain rewrittable CD's can't be copied on based on its configuration which also determines on what it can be played on certain devices. Thats one of things I remember really about those disks...

This thread can close now, I guess. It was small and hidden, but there is a USB port behind the Xbox. I had to take off the case of my jump drive to get to it though. My Zune is frozen, so I don't know if I can use it to transfer music, but if I can't then I have the long task of putting all my music on my small J-drive and transferring them.
But thanks for the help, folks.
