Given that the forum has a new look, we (the Staff) felt that it might be time to revamp the rules as well... So enter the new rules.
New FlameZeroBoard Rules.
1- Only create 1 (one) forum account.
There is no need for multiple accounts. The only reason anyone makes another is because they were punished on another account. If a duplicate account is discovered, all infractions that were present from previous accounts will apply on the new one(s) as well as the one of the accounts is disabled. (The offending member gets to choose which of their accounts is disabled. But in the event they don’t chose, then the oldest account will be disabled.)
2- If a member is banned... [you]Do NOT[/you] campaign on their behalf to have them return.
This only annoys the staff… as the member was banned for a reason. (That reason being they failed to follow 1 or more of the rules.) If you are the banned member under a new name and have returned to plead forgiveness or attempt to offer proof of innocence, this is acceptable. (However, attempting deception typically results in immediate ban and possible ban of any/all accounts you may create.) If adequate evidence is brought forth and proves innocence, an apology shall be issued and that member may chose to have their old account unbanned or use the new one. Also be warned that if no evidence is brought forth or it is insufficient to show innocence it is at the staff’s discretion to ban the member again.
Adequate evidence does NOT mean simply saying:
"I'll be good this time, I swear."
Rather it means if, for example, you were banned for stolen work, then providing proof would be you showing that you had permission from the owner to use the work.
3- No posting adult rated material or anything close to adult rated material.
This specifically means porn of any kind (hardcore and/or soft-core, in any format, such as, but not limited to, an image/story/video or other digital work) or as a link to a location that houses such material.
Punishment for this: removal of links and perpetrator may be banned on sight, as this is a Proboards terms of service offense.
4- No talking about illegal activites.
This includes warez or cracked software, roms and emulation, hacking people’s computers/programs. Particularly related to the how to use/implement them or where find such things. So linking to websites that do talk about such things in any form is not permitted.
Punishment for this removing the conversation/links, a warning not to do it again. However if serious enough the member may receive a temporary ban.
5- Do not harass/flame other members.
This means do not insult, belittle, make insinuations about any member's: Race, creed, height, weight, nationality, moral or political standpoints, religious viewpoints, gender or sexual preference.
Punishment for harassing a member is a warning for the first offence (depending on severity and level of the harassment). A second offence (or more vicious level of harassment) is typically a temporary ban. A third offence is a full out ban.
6- No advertising of any sort.
Be it making topics about your/someone else's site, posting messages about a site asking people to join, private messaging other members about a site. The [you]ONLY[/you] way you can advertise is in your signature.
Punishment for this is having your links removed or broken, as well as possible banning if severe enough.
7- Images, especially ones in signatures, should not stretch the page.
If an image is larger than 600 by 600 pixels then you should just link to it. (For signatures 200 pixels tall and 600 wide should be sufficient.)
Also, regarding images, please use a dedicated image host for linking your pictures. (Imageshack or something similar). The reason for this is hotlinking from the source can cause problems... (Such as people who use anti-hotlinking measures that replace the linked image with an offensive one.) As well as it steals their bandwidth, which costs them more money and in turn can affect their site.
Also regarding images... If the image is of an offensive nature then other rules may apply as well.
Punishment is simply that your images will be removed if there are too many to just change it to links. If the images are of an offensive nature then you may face punishment of warnings or a ban.
8- Links should under NO circumstance ever be cloaked.
(For example, use tinyurl to hide the real url location.) There is never a reason to hide a url unless it in some way violates the rules or attempts to cause mischief. As such, any cloaked urls will be removed on sight. If you spot one, DO NOT click it, instead report it to a mod and we'll take care of it.
9- When you post anything on FlameZero boards you are making a claim that it is your own, original, work. We will not let others post this work on their sites without your permission. But also we will not let you post other's work without their permission.
If it's found that a member posts something that's not theirs without permission, the punishment is removal of the work and an immediate warning of the user. A second offense will result in a ban.
Examples of protected works include: Stories, sprites, drawn or sprite comics, drawn or digital art, flash files, movies, music, opinions to the very signature and avatar they use. (Providing they made the avatar themselves, or have permission from the person who did make it.)
If you decide to leave FZB permenantly, it is [you]your[/you] responsibility to remove all the links or copyrighted material you own that you do not want left on the forum. The reason being you posted it, so it's under your responsibility. Do not PM staff and say: "Remove all my work" because we do not know what can be left and what cannot be. Let alone that fact we have no idea where it may be posted (as we didn't make it) and would be a severe amount of work to locate and remove all of it.
Specific Rules for Posting…
1- Use the best English you can.
This means no chat speak, leet speak or IRC type chat language. Try to spell things as well as you can... we know that for many, English isn’t their first language, but still try and make a reasonable attempt at spelling the words. Also try and use the best grammar you can, this combined with good spelling ensures there are fewer confusions and misunderstandings about who you’re talking to and/or what you're talking about.
We do realize that people make mistakes so we’re not going to get annoyed with you for that, as long as you at least demonstrate an honest attempt at trying to spell properly and attempting to use good grammar, as well as trying to improve.
2- Also, in using good English, refrain from swearing.
While we don't mind a bit of swearing, we don't want to see it all over the place, and there are words which we do not want to see. Period. In fact the only acceptible curse words are: Damn and Hell. (All others are forbidden. Even from links to content not on FlameZeroBoard. So that means no links to youtube videos with cursing in them.)
We don't tolerate attempting to bypass the censors to post obscenities.
If you attempt to bypass censors, you will recieve a warning for the first time. A repeated offence will earn you a temporary ban, and on the third offence it will be a full out ban.
3- Please do not create identical topics unless the previous topic hasn’t had a reply in over a month.
4- Please do not revive old topics without a good reason. ("Because I felt like it" does not suffice as a good reason. A good reason would be to add more information to the topic to create further discussion. )
However, any topic that is stickied is exempt from this rule. (To tell if a topic is stickied, look to see if there is an image like this: to the left of the topic title.)
Punishment for reviving old topics is merely to have the topic locked. Repeat offenders will get warned not to revive old topics, and if they persist they may get a temporary ban.
5- Do not spam.
That is create topics or posts that are: Short, Pointless or Annoying Messages. Examples of spam are:
- posting messages that are shorter than 5 words.
- Offer nothing to the conversation or
- Generally are there to bother people.
Such as: “I agree” or “This topic fails.”
Other examples include repeated posting of the same message, advertising, posting repeated images or posting repeated youtube videos in the same message.
Also, regarding SPAM topics, do not reply to them. Instead contact a mod and we’ll handle it.
6- Do not double post. (Or post multiple times in a row.)
It is annoying, especially since an edit button exists solely for the purpose of adding to posts. The only exceptions to this are that:
- If it’s been over 24 hours AND you have something absolutely critical to add, or
- If what you have to post simply will not fit in a single post. (That is your post has more than 60,000 characters.)
However, if you have one or more 60,000 character long posts that are nothing but spam... Expect to be banned. The reason for this is that if you go to the forethough/effort to make such a post you knew what you're doing and you can't justify it any other way.
The punishment for double posting is simply a warning not to do it again. Second offense (or multiple postings on first occurance) may earn you a temporary ban. Alternatively if all the double posting is happening in one topic, then it may just result in the topic being locked. A third offense (or posting of over 10-12 messages in a row) will earn you a full ban on sight.
7- When adding images to your post, please link to them if they are over 600pixels by 600pixels or if you have a lot of them.
We mandate this because not everyone has high speed internet and pages shouldn't be bogged down for them.
Punishment for not following this rule ranges, depending on the number of images posted, from the mods simply breaking the links to the post will simply be deleted. If there are over 10 images, then expect to just have the post deleted.
Repeated offences will earn a warning plus the images removed then on the 3rd or 4th offence a ban.
8- Try to stay on topic when posting messages, we understand diversions may occur, but if they persist then one should just create another topic to talk about the diversion so that the main topic doesn’t get locked.
9- Youtube...
Youtube is a great streaming video site, but please, when posting links to it remember to avoid posting links that interfere with our own rules. (D not post links to mature content. Particularly those that contain alot of swearing or sexual references or jokes.) If a link to a video is deemed not to be acceptable, the link shall be removed. There may be a request not to post links of that sort, but no punishment may occur unless it is a repeat offense or if multiple videos of the same caliber are posted at the same time. The punishment being a removal of all links and a temporary ban. Continuing to post mature videos after that will result in a ban.
So, if you're in doubt about whether or not to post a video... Go with your gut and don't post it. (Because if you have to ask the question "should I post it?" then there is likely something wrong with it.)
These rules are copyright to FlameZero Boards, they are not to be used anywhere else. Any such unauthorized reproduction can be reported on discovery with or without warning to the offending forum owner. This is your warning!
