So, I'm having a new PC built for me, and the broad who's buildin' it for me has made me an offer with a list of parts and a price. However, I don't understand anything about computer hardware, and I'd like for you folks to take a look at the offer she's made for me. Processor: INTEL CORE 2 DUO E8400 3,0GHz Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-EP45-DS3 Video card: GIGABYTE ATI RADEON HD4850 512MB ZL Memory: 2 x BUFFALO RETAIL 2GB DDRII 800 HDD: 500GB Also, there will be a DVD RW station, a card reader and this thing called MicroATX. I have no idea what this ATX-thingamabob does, either. The price on this piece is 879 euros. Anyways, aside from being a decent overall PC, I'd like for it to have enough power in it to function as a kick- gaming PC as well. Our current one barely runs games from the 90s. Any suggestions for better parts or something, or would this stuff do for games like Crysis and Sh**? Obviously, when playing games, anything less than maximum detail will not do.

The max storage my pc has is 600GB.
I dunno if that has to do with anything, but I do consider my machine to be average.
........Is she weak to smoothtalking....? Haggle your price. lol

For gaming?
It'd be sufficient... Depending on which operating system you plan on using. (If your using Vista, despite what they say, you'll need absolute top of the line hardware... which costs top dollar too. I'd avoid vista as much as possible though, just because not all games work well on it. And it wouldn't do to shell out all that money and have the games you wanna play not work.)
But if you have the money, I'd suggest more ram. (As much as possible as it will make games run quicker/easier.) If there is a better processor then might go for that as well. Possibly go for a Nvidia graphics card (GeForce 8800 GT 640mb or GTS 512mb), as they're typically pretty reliable and compatible with most games. (I've heard that ATI has driver issues...)
Again, this is providing you have the money. And you may want to check with the person who's making this pc that it will all be compatible...

I'd rather go for RAM from Corsair. ;P
Micro ATX is a motherboard form factor. The motherboard you list seem to be a standard ATX motherboard, though.
I've got an ATi Radeon HD 4850, it is a really good graphics card and you will be able to enjoy a lot of games with nice graphics. The HD 4850 got about the same performance as an nVidia Geforce 9800GTX.

Well regarding viruszero's post i'm pretty sure that Alienware uses the Nvidia graphics card that he referred to, if memory serves. And for those of you that don't know Alienware is a computer manufacturer that makes desktops and laptops with mainly gaming in mind. So if Alienware uses it then i would say it's a safe bet they are going to be good.
As for me i just have the one that came with the desktop, no idea what it is. I haven't really had the need to change it so i never really paid attention. Which is why i am going off of Alienware instead of my own experience.
