What is your favourite type of game genre and why? (Note that I'm following the gamefaqs genre set up so it's less typing for me, and the genres are wider... So if your not sure what falls into a particular genre, I've included a few examples. And you can always go to gamefaqs and check them out to see what else falls into that genre.)

I'd probably go for Action games, for I am a First Person Shooter player, I like the idea of shooting each other and actually fighting, if shooting is involved, and even close combats in some cases, and I am a good sniper, sniping is a good job boy. ^^

I guess I'd have to say Action adventure. If Ratchet is similar to Jak 2, then they fall in the same catagory. And deadlocked has infinate replay value to me for some reason.
Actually it's not my favorite. It's tied in with the fighting ganre. SF alpha 2 was my favorite fighting game, and uh,....mugen is awesome..lol

I just like sidescrollers, so I don't know where that would fall into play.

My favorite are sidescrollers as well, but since that wasn't an option, I picked fighters.
Edit: Wow! Now there's a "Retract Vote" option. That's sweet, especially if we clicked on the wrong thing at another time.

Side-scrollers are platformers, and that option's not up there. I guess one could say platformers can be called "Action games", but that's not really the same thing. Action games are primarily about combat, whereas platformers are about jumping to try to get to the end of a level.
The genre is merged in games like the original Sonic games and Megaman, platformers that include boss battles and stage enemies for combat. They're called action platformers, they're the games I first played, and they're still, to this day, my favorite kind of gaming experience.
But, since you directly included one of my favorite games for the PS2 (JAK II) as an example for the action genre, I'll put my vote in there.

I go with fighting games. They are just to awesome. it alwasy makes you feel good when you kill someone so freaking brutal. And with soem nasty combos that you can create. And a lot of flashes are from fighting sprites. With so much choas and speed, tehy always get themselves an ACE or B.

Personally, I don't really like fighting games. Most of them require no real skill, just either randomly mashing buttons or spamming a particular attack can bring you victory in every match against the game itself, and when you play against other people the same thing will work for either of you, usually it coming down to who got off the first hit.
Like this one game, Zatch Bell Mammodo Battles. I would always play as Tia or Zatch in the multiplayer, and it would always happen like this: I would spend the first round spamming the normal attacks and building up my spell power, then in round two I would just spam the primary spell. This strategy almost always resulted in a win for me. The only times it didn't work were when I fought the game and the game played as Brago or that martial arts guy who's name I can't remember.

Exactly. Most fighting games have AIs that have you killed trying to spam your way out of things. You also have to consider going against pro players. My older brother has the full pat down of most capcom characters, so he knows what moves he can do at certain times. Mainly because of the physics of the game. The only game one would get a solid win on him are more free fighting games such as the super smash brothers games, where you're given more options. Other wise, with Ryu in play, not even spammed projectiles will let you defeat him.
After looking at the poll, is it safe to say that I'd crush you all in a game of madden...? XD

Action Adventure for me. I just always liked the combination of exploration mixed with good ol' combat.
