Well I have been gaming for almost all my life, and 1 genre I always couldn't get into... and thats an RPG game, I didn't remember why I didn't like them, after all I love a game that can tell me a good long story, and good gameplay, I loved Pokemon games and those are RPG's so why wasn't I into them, So I decided, Hey WTF? Might aswell try one to see why I dont like them, So I bought Valkary Profile:Lenneth for the PSP, and Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness also for my PSP... so anyway I start up Valkary Profile and after an Hour Long opening, I finnaly get to play... I start Playing it and the gameplay is fun And Im all Like omg I can't believe this is so much fun, I'd thought I would hate it!!! then after I clear out all the enemies and get to the last guy (I believe, in the castle) I soon relize I am Lost in the Game, and I soon re-discovered why I hate RPG's, They are so freakin confusing!!! I get lost in them in like the opening Levels!!! The same thing happened to me when I tried to play FFIX, I always Get Lost, i haven't tried Disgaea Yet, But Just to be safe I bought the Strategy Guide... so yeah IDK what to dooo, I hit up the Online Strategy Guide walkthrough, and Id doesn't tell me SH!T!!! I just Hope Disgaea is alot more linnear than this game...

From what it sounds like, you can't beat a "dungeon" in an RPG without getting lost. That's pretty sad since almost all "dungeons" aren't confusing unless you're an idiot.
I'm actually playing FFIX at the moment, and it isn't confusing. Hell, they have tutorials for just about everything. The only thing that can get really tedious is the amount of free-roaming time. (Half the first disc is free-roaming until you play through all the storyline scenes.)
You have to use your brain in RPGs. That's what sets them apart from button-mashers and sports games.

well i usually get stuck on dungeons' but not to this degree, Rite nao Im Flying over some contrys and don't know wtf to do, I have visited them, and have 9/24 chapter 1, but Im not sure what Im looking for,I found the sword, but have yet to advance the plot, I have trigered a Cutscene where I see a Stone and appearetnly something is dead in it... aand she's all tripin, but then I was Back to Flying so i traveled further with in the way getting lost, and Frustrated...
My point is, Im not getting very far in the story...

If it's just getting lost, that's a issue, even for the likers. FFTA2 is a RPG that won't get you uhh... "Lost", since it's basically "move here on the map", and then it goes, "start battle". Which is it.
Anyways, if you get lost, it's common, but people end up getting out of it in the end.

Well I'm sorry you feel that way. I love RPGs. I love the game that branches off from button mashing skill and makes you think more about character development, how best to distribute stats and how to use my powers to find the way through a dungeon. It makes you think a little bit more but its fun in its own way.

Well, most of RPGs include plenty an explanation as to where you're going next. FFIX for instance was ridiculously linear. You just walk forward from place to place in it, in few tiny occasions having to read the part in the dialogue which tells you where to go.
And, well, judging from what you wrote about "seeing a cut scene with a stone and something in it", I'm sort of under the impression that you're really not paying attention to any of the storyline and such, either. That's the point of the RPGs. You don't play an RPG to get through the dungeons and beat the bosses to complete it. You play it to grasp the full concept of the story! Kinda like reading a book, but without all that boring involved. :X
Anyway! In most instances they do give you quite obvious tips as to where to go next. Sure, there are exceptions, but rarely. I'd put my bets on the idea that you just weren't paying attention. ><

I used to loathe RPGs. Then I played Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga and MMXCM. From there, I was able to tolerate slower RPGs like Yu-Gi-Oh!: Falsebound Kingdom. However, there are a lot of RPGs that have too many menus. Those are the ones I can't stand, such as .hack//. I see my friend play that and maneuver all his menus like they're nothing. It's crazy.
Now...getting lost...I'm all too familiar with that concept, particularly in games that are adventure games (i.e. TLOZ: any particular title). My point...sometimes you're just going to get lost. That's all there is to it. At that point, you have three options:
1. Stop playing the RPG altogether (not recommended if you're having fun with the game)
2. Put it away for a day or two and come back to it. All of a sudden you'll notice something you didn't before.
3. Continue to play, hoping you come across something, and continue to get more frustrated if you don't find it.
Believe me, take the 2nd option more often than not. I've made the mistake with doing the 3rd option many times, and it is rarely productive. This advice goes for any Adventure/RPG, because you don't get lost in the same way in any other types of games. You could argue 1st person shooters, but only if it is partially adventure as well.

I'm understanding the story so far, its about the world ending, and you need dead human people to fight with you, dude and princess chick are with me in my party, and the Green chick has been in my party to help me out, now she's gone... and I have 3 people... Now I have to send soldiers to odin so this "war" thats happening could come to an end... and appearetnly I was drawn into a flowery field hearing the cry of dead souls, and a Bunch of ghost like skulls attack me, I offcourse Pwn them, and Shee sees a rock, but it looks like its grave marker, meaning sum one must be burried there... and she questions what brought her there... and I havent seen anything since, I've been Hecka Places, but my perisods keep running out...
So Yeah as far as Im concerned, i do what the story is about, I just summerized what I have gone through right about now...
