MMX3 bit's shield?

Just a question in the air, but was looking at images of bit and byte sprites to use for a avatar and came across a bunch of images off a random search engine for images and came across a picture of Bit with a big Blue Shield, also noticeable on the image rotation off the intro for MMx5, and i never saw it used in MMx3, also the image of bit with the shield in mmx5 had him battle Zero, but if memory servers me correct i couldn't get zero to fight the nightmare police, was his shield just a gimmick or did i miss something ?

As far as I can remember, bit has not shield. If you shoot while he fires, your shots bounce off, but I do not believe he has a shield. It was more than likely just a gimmick they added into X5.
