Well, I've been watching the anime up to episode 8 (Last one made so far) and I've understood most of it so far.
This contains very minor spoilers, the real story is probably to be revealed later.
War Rock holds the 'key' to something called "Andromeda", no one knows what it is, War Rock betrayed his kind, the FMs and escaped to Earth with the 'key'.
He met Subaru there, bla bla, you know the rest. Subaru asks War Rock why won't he give the FM's the key and what's Andromeda, he didn't explain, he just said that the FM's plan is to destroy Earth and Subaru though that was reason enough.
We've seen 3 FM's up to Episode 8.
- War Rock (Lion thing, Green flame trail, Partner of Subaru, becomes "Rockman" when both are merged),
- Cygnus (bird, light blue trail, partner of Utagai, becomes Cygnus-Wing when both are merged. Based off the Cygnus Constellation)
- Ox (An ox, red/orange trail, partner of Gonta, becomes Ox Fire when both are murged. Based off the Taurus Constellation)
The FM's now chase War Rock to Earth and try to restrain War Rock to gain the key. They also merge with humans (Like Utagai and Gonta) in sight to improve their power. ALOT.
Subaru and War Rock are called Rockman instead of another name like the others because when the Police saw Rockman, they didn't recognize Subaru was him (Like Superman except not as obvious), so he decided to disguise himself under a secret identity and said his name was Rockman to Heiji (The police inspector)

Woot, the girl in the intro was revealed.
The pink haired girl is Misora Hibiki, a girl that is apparently into music (and also in real life the composer of the intro song)
She fuses with the FM Harp (Pink trail, shaped like a harp) and becomes Harp Singer (Not Roll, damn.)
Harp Singer seems to be formed willingly like Rockman but unlike Ox Fire or Cygnus Wing.

 FM Ox  Ox Fire (Gonta + Ox) grabbing Luna  FM Harp  Misora Hibiki  Harp Singer (Misora + Harp)  Utagai  FM Cygnus  Cygnus-Wing (Utagai+Cygnus) Another thing. Harp is based off the Lyra Constellation. |
