Okay, I hope we have some tactitions on this board, or this won't be any fun. However, you don't need to know how to play chess.
So, PM me what you choose.

First, pick a color: White or Black
Second, pick a piece: Queen (Q), Bishop (B), Knight (N), Rook (are), Pawn (P) (Sorry, the King cannot be picked, it has to be there)
Third, pick what position you want of that piece you want. However, if you are a Queen, you have no choice. By the way BS below means "Blank Square" not "censor censor". The blue are the black pieces, and the Red are the white pieces.

The color spaces are Black (B) and White (W), in the following arrangement

After you have picked your piece, and which one you want, then you just sit back and wait. I'll collect the data for three days. Every three days, I'll set up a chess board at home and play through a scenario using only the pieces picked by the players. No one will know who was on what side until I display it that day. If the piece and position is already taken, I'll PM you back and ask you to try again. After I display results, react how you would react, but keep it clean.

If you know how to play chess, you'll probably have a better idea what to do, and what pieces to pick.

We'll try this a few times. If it works, we'll keep doing it, otherwise I'll discontinue it.

Sorry, the setup is that of a Western Chess board. Furthermore, even in Chinese Chess (Xianqui), the Knight-type piece isn't on the corner. Results of this game to be announced soon.

Edit: Game 1 - Draw

I didn't even have to play this game out. There was one participant, Flash, who chose the Black Knight N1. It is impossible for a Knight and a King to put a king alone in checkmate. The game would either go 175 moves in, or the white king would trick himself/herself into a stalemate by moving into a position where he would not be under attack, but couldn't move anywhere.

It is possible to checkmate a player using a single piece and their king. A Knight just isn't one of them.

Another factor that did not apply was I did not join the first time around, and don't know if I will the second time since I'll know the board and can sway victory whichever way I choose.

Game 2 Begins today. Choose wisely, because you may be the only person to pick a piece.

Sorry. Besides, that wouldn't do you any good because you still couldn't checkmate your opponent.

but can't go backward

Kings can do all queens can except they can move only one square. If the king and a rook have never moved before, the king can move two spaces toward that rook and the rook then jumps over on the other side of the king. This is called castlling.

That's chess in a nutshell.
