(This is my new fanfic, Megaman X: Fall of the Reploid, which takes place after Megaman X8.)
Chatper 1- Awakening:
Four maverick hunters were walking through a dimly lit hallway in an abandoned building. Maverick Hunter HQ detected four signals earlier and sent these hunters to investigate.
"Why do we have to check this morbid place out? Those signals were probably just mechanaloids." Hunter One complained.
"I doubt that a few mechanaloids being activated would give off much of a signal, so it has to be something else." Hunter Two responded.
"I-I just h-hope that i-it's not a m-maverick!" Hunter Three, still a rookie, stuttered.
"Relax newbie, it's probly' jus' a group of mechs packed close together" Hunter Four, a more veteran hunter, assured Hunter three.
The group continued walking towards the main room where the signals were detected. Hunter Four peered inside and saw four capsules lined against the back wall. The capsule farthest to the left had an opaque, pale-green screen on the top half. Next to that lay a slightly thinner capsule with a brown screen.
A terminal with four dimly-lit icons divided the pair of capsules on the left from another pair of capsules on the right. The capsule that resided next to the terminal was larger than the others and had a red, opaque screen. In the very right corner of the room sat the most ominous of the capsules. This capsule was decorated with spikes and had a darker tint of silver than the others, almost like a chrome-color. The screen was jet-black and seemed to absorb all light that dared travel near it, making it emit dark energy.
"The signals er' comin' from inside those capsules! Let's go find out what the heck're in them!" Hunter Four informed his team. The other three hunters hesitated but then followed after Hunter Four into the room. Hunter One inspected the first capsule lazily, Hunter Two inspected the terminal in the middle of the room thoroughly, Hunter Three frightfully observed the smallest capsule, and Hunter Four examined the large capsule.
Hunter Two moved closer to the terminal so he could see it better. He then noticed the red icon of a sword blinking, gasping and looking to the right where Hunter Four was peering over the red capsule. "Get away from that cap-!" Was all Hunter Two could yell. A red saber shot through the red screen on the capsule and the tip jutted through Hunter Four's chest. A sick spurting sound was heard as the sword was taken out of Hunter Four. Blood started squirting out of the wound and he fell over on the ground, dead. The sword was risen higher into the air and a large hand broke a hole in the capsule screen. The whole screen then shattered as a large red reploid emerged from it.
Hunter Three fell over on the ground trembling. "What's happening!?" He screamed, not noticing the screen from the capsule he was observing earlier shatter. An extremely thin, brown reploid jumped onto Hunter Three. Hunter Three shrieked in panic and couldn't move.
"What's your problem kiiiiid!?" The brown reploid asked in a high-pitched voice. Hunter Three continued to scream. The brown reploid grabbed onto his victims arms tightly. Green energy started traveling from all around Hunter Three's body into the brown reploid's hands, which then travelled throughout his body, making his extremely thin armor and body grow slightly and turn a slight green color.
The brown reploid turned away from the dead hunter and looked at Hunter One. "W-What the hell is going on here!? What are these things!?" He asked frantically as an arm shattered through the pale-green screen on the capsule that he was near. The hand fired tiny spikes at Hunter One which flew into his shoulders, arms, and legs. Hunter one grunted in pain. After a second, he aimed his buster at the hand that was sticking out of the capsule. Right before he fired though, his arm suddenly gave in on itself. It limped to his side as his legs and other arm did a moment later. Hunter One fell to his knees and looked at these mavericks that were slaughtering his team.
Hunter Two sprung into acton and attempted to jump onto the capsule that hid Hunter One's assailant. The large red reploid from earlier threw his saber at Hunter Two, piercing his head. The saber disappeared and reappeared in the red reploid's hand.
Hunter One started screaming. His whole body felt numb but was in agonizing pain at the same time. He fell over on the ground, dead. The poison inside of the spikes had spread throughout his body and killed him. The screen on the pale capsule completely shattered and a pale-colored reploid emerged from it.
The brown reploid laughed maniacally. "What a great way to start things off! I could tell that you got into that fight War!" He said excitedly.
"Hmph, they were disappointing. I was hoping for more fun to come out of my wake-up exercise, Famine." War corrected the brown reploid. War was a large reploid at 7'2 feet tall. He had a mainly red color scheme with some gold parts. He had a helmet shaped like Vile's without the bottom opening, and had a white horn curving up on his forehead with two horns curving up on the sides of his head. There was a gold ring around the base of each of these horns. His torso armor had gold trim on the bottom that spiked up at the middle. His arms had silver trim on the ankles that spike back over and under the forearms. His feet were white and connected to his red legs by yellow trim on his ankles. The yellow trim spiked up all the way over his legs. His knees had hexagonal plates with spikes in the middle.
"At least you guys can get enjoyment out of doing your jobs. I just poison them and then that's it. Wait slowly for them to die..." The pale reploid complained.
"Stop being such a downer Plague! You need to lighten up a little!" Famine criticized.
Plague was a pale-colored reploid with a constant limp. His armor had random spots and lines of sickly green color. His face was extremely pale with a sickly green tint. Green markings covered his eyes and some of his face. A large amount of spikes covered his helmet. The rest of his armor had a very simplistic design like X's. His body suit was green.
"Enough." Came a deep voice from the black capsule. The black screen slid back into the capsule and a figure wearing a black cloak emerged.
"Took you long enough Death! You missed all of the fun!" Famine said to the cloaked reploid. Famine was a brown reploid with extremely thin armor. Bone-like elevations were visible all over his body. His whole body was covered in thin, fleshy, brown armor.
"I am not here to have 'fun'. I am merely here to fulfill my duty. And I was not late. You were just early." Death responded.
"Gah! You're even less fun than Plague is!" Famine said, annoyed at his brother's lack of enthusiasm.
"Let's go, we have a mission to carry out." Death said. ignoring Famine's comment. He moved towards the exit of the building, his brothers following afterwards.
