Well, MMXCM couldn't have been pre-X4 because X and Zero have been around for 100 years by that point in time.

I know, but I'm saying that if there was a second game about spider's past. I suggested that he'd make a failing attempt at assasinating colonel.
after thinking about it, I bet the story could be about spider being a normal bounty hunter, and for the sake of a friend, he decides to liberate giga city. He finds out about redips, tries to confront him and dies. thus making him the "party that went in a died before X's group."

That could work, although I think they're trying to make it very clear that Spider is the split-personality of Redips. Although that raises another question.
Is Spider actually Redips or is Redips actually just Spider?
Here's something to think about.
1. Spider, according to what he said, was partners with Aile. It also sounds like Aile and Spider lived in Giga City most of their functioning lives. If this is the case, then the transmorming ability would be right up their alley, if what Axl thinks is right.
2. Spider could have found out about the SFM when he was working with Aile.
3. Spider may have killed a reploid that looked like Redips while he was working with Aile and as he put it "I goofed and he got [wasted]" (I'm not sure if "wasted" is what he said). This may have been what put Aile in the little vehicle he rides in before he sacrifices himself. It may have also made it possible for Spider to be able to get away with whatever possible scheme he wanted to and Aile not to know about it. Yeah, some people might say that Aile brought Spider to X's side, but if that was the case, Aile obviously didn't know Spider's true motives. (There is the possibility the reploid Spider may have killed was Signas and took his form and the reversed his name, but this is all still completely theoretical)
4. Finally, Spider may have taken the form of "Redips" and changed his name to Redips in order to have use of the Federation forces to get his hands on the SFM. Thus, he plans to use X and Zero to get his hands on it. By simply labeling the Rebellion Army "maverick", he is possibly able to get his hands on all that he possibly discovered while he was only Spider.
I know this is pretty far-fetched, but it could be the case.

The only far-fetched thing I see is Spider killing signas.
He could kill the guy, but copy reploids take the DNA of others so he'd have to take the complete form of signas, not some original form. (the only reason redips went all big as a final boss was due to supra force) which means that spider was his own person....which kinda sides with my idea, that his "goof" was a failed attempt of taking out redips. He might have sacrificed himself to save Aile, thus allowing redips to get that form.
this can all be null and void if there was a confirmation that copy reploids can make their own forms.

Shen, while I can imagine Spider wanting Supra-Force Metal as a bounty hunter, I can't really see him (The real Spider, not Redips using the copy chip) as the type who would use such means as murder and starting a civil war to achieve his goals.
And besides, the second time I played through the game, it wasn't until the first cutscene in Chapter three (Tianna Camp) that Spider seemed like Redips, so Redips could have killed and began posing as Spider in New Hope/Air City.

If that is the case Miguel, how would Spider have known about Chief are before X even meets him?

How soon we forget about Aile. Spider may have kept in touch with his old partner, who worked with Cheif before he blew himself up pointlessly (X could've taken on a few Preons.).

Spider pretty much indicated he flies solo when he took on the bounty hunting business.
We better get this thread back on topic.

Yeah, but he did say that Aile was his partner when he started bounty hunting.
As for staying on topic, we're discussing ideas that would go in Command Mission's sequel, which could possibly be about Spider's past. So if you ask me, we're still on topic. But what do the mods think?

I think the mods can kiss my-
no, jk. but anywho, maybe the two started out together, then split up when Spider decided to do something about what he found out about redips?...
EDIT: or perhaps the other way around; Aile devcided to do something about redips while spider didn't believe him. then aile was about to be destroyed by redips before spider came, and sacrificed himself to let aile escape, thus being killed and allowing his form to be taken by redips.
how about that? It can also explain aile's condition ya know.

It can also explain aile's condition ya know. You mean how he's like a reploid Stephen Hawking? (Didn't you notice how his mouth didn't move when he talked?) I think that works.

I personaly though the first game was just plain bad. I played it through, and they really need a better setup of the game, and not as many damn random battles. The 3-step random battle thing was just retarded in my point of view.

Three-step random battle? What are you talking about? If you're talking about the random-encounters, then you obviously haven't played many RPGs.

I have played alot of the FF games, aswell as some others, and Command mission is the worst I've played yet. The combat system wasn't that great honestly either.
