i wouldn't think it'd be so wierd he's unknown because he's not really in any of the megaman battlenetwork games ( aside from the gamecube one and mentions of zero in the series such as zetto saber chip) and as for the anime, most of north america wouldn't have seen that far ahead ( officially the end of axcess was just shown. and i don't know if they have started stream yet or not, and beast + is still a long ways away from the start of stream. ) so i can see why not alot of people realise who he his.

zero is a virus in one of them i cant remeber witch but he doesnt lokk like any form of zero ive seen. go to google and search zero exe.

Yeah. Zero was in network transmission. Basicly, Zero was spreading around the Zero Virus, and Megaman finds some of Zero's origninal data, then lan's dad save's Zero after you whipe the floor with him, then he helps you after you beat the final boss. And, according to the game sequence, Network Transmission takes place after BN1, but before BN2 even thought the game came out along side BN3.

Zero EXE looks like a mix of Copy X's 3rd form, Protoman, and that falcon guy in MMBN 5
