I have played megaman battle network 1-5, and what the game is like, well it's kinda hard to explain, I'll try my best. The game is like megaman except they're inside computers, and there are a lot of evil net navis (megaman and his friends are good net navis) and they have net ops to operate them. Instead of getting weapons from defeating bosses you buy/find battle chips which power up your navi. Well thats all I can say, hope this helps.

Here's an overview
Mega Man Battle Network plunges the Blue Bomber into a virtual world, where he must battle computer viruses.
With a premise strongly reminiscent of '80s sci-fi movie Tron, Battle Network has you play as two characters. As school boy Lan, you live, go to school and visit friends' houses in ACDC Town. Trouble is brewing in this seemingly quiet 'burb, though. It seems that a sinister criminal outfit called "WWW" is infecting computer networks in order to take over the world.
Like his classmates, Lan has a Personal information Terminal (PET) - in his case, Mega Man.EXE - that moves through Cyber World. By jacking into computer networks and smart devices, Lan unleashes Mega Man to explore and battle computer viruses.

Basically,Lan often has to do these missions and you have to jack into the net to complete these missions, Like pokemon, you'll often bump into virus which you fight.
You'll meet plenty of other navis that you have to beat.

You run around on 9 squares dogding attacks and using your own. THere's around 300 battle chips(it's 300 is'nt it?) you can use

the Megaman Battle Network games are great and they're definetly something you don't want to miss out.

ok here a very basic plot summary, not all events are covered in these summaries, only the essentials, if you want it all, play the games.
mmbn1
world 3 is out to destroy the net. megaman fights world 3's minions to stop them, and in an encounter with one boss megaman is almost deleted, lan's dad saves the day and megaman continues to face the life virus, lan wins and dr wily's castle blows up.
mmbn2
wily's gone and another criminal organization (gospel) takes place. they try creating clones of the mostr powerful solo navi ever created (bass.exe) developed by dr cossack. the expirement fails and lan ends up facing off against a virus beast made of bugs, lan defeats it and unmasks the bad guy of the criminal organization. its a misunderstood kid, lan befriends him and everything is set right.
mmbn3
wily is back and by using lan's grandfathers work unleases a beast called alpha, lan battles it. and in doing so sacrifices himself to save lan.
mmbn4
another new evil takes over the darkchip syndicate aka nebula, lan is tricked into using a dark chip to that gives megaman an evil side, lan and megaman fight this darkmegaman then lan and megaman goe through tournaments to reach the place of top net battler, in doing so he is recruited to stop a giant asteroid on a collision course with earth, in doing so the leader of nebula is revealed to be dr reagal, the scientist who built the lazer to stop the asteroid. regal uncovers a secret of the asteriod, you can jack in. lan sends megaman in through the lazer. lan confronts the os of the asteriod, Duo, duo makes megaman face his darkside one more time, then after that, megaman faces duo. after winning the earth calls megamans name to save the world. giving him the power to do it.

nebula returns, and lan stops them with the help of some of his friends.
