It's amusing how he looks like a combination of Zero, Bass, and a vampire. However, I don't think the real thing has quite that evil looking of a face. Look at the figure to be sure, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't have that dark of a complexion on his face.

Happy halloween Zero. However there are many kinds of Zero drawings I've seen that look scarier than that face.

I believe you. If someone made a version of this picture that made it look like it was laughing, that would make it look more evil in itself.

I find it looks like Bass with the trebel armor combined with Zero, this may be yet another throwback to Zero being of Dr. Wily's creation.

I'm not a big fan of the artist depiction of the face either but its the only really decent picture I've found so far... (and this is an older picture I found a while ago.)

More likely than not, they did it so they would have some name for his hyper mode. Other than that, there really is no reason, at least as far as I can tell.
One thing I thought amusing is how this hyper mode (referring to the picture) is named "Absolute Zero" when it has nothing to do with Zero himself, but rather a temperature on the Kelvin Scale, but I'm sure you all knew that.

technically capcom did name the black armor, they named it just that, in command mission anyway, in X8 they call it ? ? ?
I believe they call it absolute zero both as a reference to the fact that the armor is elementally geared towards ice ( just like X's starting armor in mmx:cm is fire ) and that this is the most powerful armor Zero has. (one may even be able to argue the only armor he has... as black zero is just a recolored form of the same armor. and X shows that the armor can switch colors by switching weapons, but it is still the same armor set.)
