Hardest? Easy(for me, anyways).
Sigma Four. Beat him with Zero after about 70(im serious, I counted) attempts of hell.
Even when I used the code for Ultimate Armor X, STILL hard.

WHAT!?!You have to be kidding me!?!Chill penguin is the most easy boss in MMX1.And look i took this list where to begin with and dont bother with the names: 1#Chill penguin. 2#Birdman 3#Sparkman 4#Flameelephant 5#Moleblade 6#Cammelon 7#Octipus guy 8#Bomerrang guy 9#Sigma. No you've got that wrong. If you start with chill penguin, which almost everyone recomends the order is as follows: 1#Chill penguin. 2#Sparkmandril 3#Armed Armadillo 4#Launch Octopus 5#Boomer Kuanger 6#Sting Chamelion 7#Storm Eagle 8#Flame Mammoth If you do it in this order the bosses are so easy you have to try to lose. The hardest boss for me is final Sigma in X5 with Zero, even now...
He's a total b*tch with armored X tho...

Use the weakness of each boss to beat them.
In X1 YOU NEED TO KILL PENGUIN FIRST. Because his stage has the Dash Boots which you need to kill the other bosses easily. Plus without the Dash Boots you cannot get any other capsule.

personally i think that Zero and X from X5 are the hardest. if you fail to stop Eurasia from crashing( plot leak, Eurasia actually DOES crash for Zero 4 plot line or else Area Zero doesnt exist) then you will fight Zero. if you do end up destrying Eurasia, and you play with zero from then on, you will fight X. they are both annoynig as hell.

If you destroy Eurasia, still parts of it will fall.
You fight Zero without the Zero Virus active if you destroy it

AAAAAAAAAAAAAA I hated sigma in MMX 4 I only beat it with the Ultimate armour and it was still F&^%ing hard i almost never cheat but for this game i made an exception AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAh |

i think sigma was the hardest in MMX4 god what i hated him  Same I beat him after 2 months of fighting him...god I suck at MMX4...but I rock at MMX5 and MMX8! ;D |

there was never any that stuck out as hard but the most challenging was Final form Sigma in X5 and the gate battle in X6
