ya but the reason they changed it from 21XX to 22XX is because 100 years obviously passed. and while the Zero series DOES take place in 22XX (Zero was supposed to have slept for over a century while X was using his body to guard the Dark Elf), i think we oughta give the programers a little slack, they have been creating megaman games for over 15 years, they are bound to interweave their storylines or forget which century which series is in.
I loved CM because it was the first (real) RPG in the megaman series and the booses were sometimes too pretty to pumel the hell out of. the Tails Clan gave me the greatest challenge and beating them was very worth it.
although i hate Rafflesian, she is sooo hard.
if you want a perfect megaman RPG ( not the battle network series) get this game, it will blow you away! ;D

You do know that the Megaman Zero team and the Megaman X team are comepletely different groups right? It's obvious that the Megaman X team hadn't looked over the scripts from the other games. Most of it was corrected anyhow in the Rockman Perfect Memories issue or something.

As i said, the MMZ series maybe doesnt happen in 22XX. There is nothing saying that in the MMZ Games if you go replay them. Maybe MMZ happens in 23XX or 24XX if they continue making alot more MMX games

I played Command Mission and did not liked it.
It could be ALOT better, it was really a failed attempt at a decent RPG.

I mean. Come on, X gets a new suit then drops it on the next game! Wow 8 bosses, we never saw that before.
And the story, the MASTER element of an RPG, it wasn't there!! Marino, Spider and the other new characters have no story, you don't see into them, you just find them and they say "meh" and join you to fight evil. I mean what the hell?

The story is the most important feature of an RPG.
Capcom just threw this in to call more fans that like RPG's. Im pretty ashamed about this game, Capcom could do better than this. They are losing ideas and stuff for new games, they are going down in my rating of OOH. From X7 and forward it started going down, so they are now going for the old GOOD games and remaking them
MML2, MMX1 and MM1 going to be remaked for the PSP

what are you talking about?! spider "dies" in the game and that affects every1. the reason every1 joined up with X is because they shared similar goals:
X: Stop the Rebellion. Sent by government.
Zero: Same as X.
Massimo:Become as strong as the real Steel Massimo. help others who are not as strong.
Spider: his friend and colleague, Aile, perished at the hands of the rebellion.
Marino: Uses the rebellion fighting as a smokescreen to mask the thievery. repaying the debt to cinnamon for healing her.
Cinnamon: Repayment to X for saving her. She uses her healing natue ( she is a healing reploid anyway) to help others.
Axl: checking Giga City for any info in his chamelion ability. he is a good friend and comrade to X and Zero.

so there is the breakdown on why they joined with X in CM

That isn't really a story. Go play good RPG games like Seiken Densetsu 3, Final Fantasy 7 or Disgaea then come back here

ok i have to admit that the final fantasy series blow every RPG out of the water in terms of story , but give CM some credit, mega man was originally intended to be a side scrolling shoot first- ask questions l8r kind of game. the whole point of mega man was to break the linear nature of early games like Zelda, mario and sonic. so what if MegaMan X CM doesnt stand very tall in terms of story..... its their first official try at a MMX RPG ( besides the MMBN series). the side scroller MM games own and even the Mega Man legends series was ok at best.

ok lets look at ff7 and compare it to command mission

-ff7-
cloud- begin with him

barret- wants to ensure you do your job as you were hired then just sticks around as your goal changes to match his.

tifa- joined because she likes cloud/grew up with him/ has same goals

aeris- joined because cloud was protecting her.

redXIII- joined because cloud set him free from a cage

cid- joined because was going into space ( if i remember correctly )

yuffie- joined so she could steal materia/ you tricked her

vincent- joined because he wants to kill sephiroth ( i can't remember exactly but i think that was his reason )

now for comand mission
X- starts with

Zero- stars with then looses, joins permenatly after realises his mistake of judging the people from the city
steel massimo- joins to be strong and protect the city

spider- joins because he wants supra force medal ( if you've beat it you'll know why i say this )

marino- joined because she wanted to help take down the "bad guys"

cinnamon- joined because X protected her and helped the professor, and she wanted to do the right thing.

axl- joined because he was a part of the team in x7, and he wanted to help stop the "bad guys"

now by looking at those comparisons, the reasons they joined the party don't seem too much different ( aside fom storyline issues )
it seems most characters join the party after ya help them. so i'd say ff7 and cm are more similar than you care to admit, yes while the story tellign in cm isn't as deep as ff7, you also have to realise that, the true main character of cm is known from 8 other games while in ff7 you have just 1 to get to know him.

you gotta point there viruszero. however " spider" never really wanted the SFM at all. Commander Redips wanted the SFM, spider was just a chameleon copy.......wait a minute.......... if spider was a chameleon copy, what happened to the REAL one.. remember that for Axl to copy a boss you needed to kill them 1st...

regardless of whether MegaMan X is known in 8 other games is pointless. i recently looked up the 100 best games of 2004 and FF7 was #1 in the main character department because cloud was a merc turned saviour and people identified with him. MegaMan has been around since the 80's so ya hes the most known game character around ( along with Mario, Link, Samus and Sonic)

the main emphasis is that mm was , is , and always be the king of side scrollers. he was the one who broke the mold for old school games and he still owns in all the side scrolling games he has.
