No he was right. It' somehthing that the groom throws for the guys. During the wedding the bride has it around her leg. And it's called a Garter.

Hmmm... I remember that but, that is game they do after the ceremony usually though the bouquet can be thrown after or during the game of catching the bride's Garter and what ever the groom throws I kind of forgot... Silly me...

Actually, in a wedding, the Bride carries it, after the kiss the bride throws it, facing away from the people. So that she doesn't aim for anyone in particular. They believe, that whoever catches it will become married next. It's an English culture, which is quite fun in theory (since i've never been to such a thing in the first place)
