Favourite VG song.

Videogames themselves are an art form, but beyond that they are a combination of art forms... Graphics/Art, coding and let's not forget music. And at times it seems like music takes a backseat to the graphics. But great music can make a game even better, even raising a poor game to a tolerable one. Or it can hurt a great game, making a great game worse if the music is terrible. So that being said, of all the mass of games, what are your favourite songs from them?

(I'll ask that you [you]not[/you] pick songs from sport games, and/or games with licensed soundtracks. I mean games where the music was designed for them, not just a collection of some tracks the developers though were good and so they just paid to use them. So that means Rockband, Guitar Hero and their clones are out, nothing from them.)

You know darn well that there are too many songs for there to be a favorite. Unless you like seeing long lists of things, in which case,...tough luck. I'm lazy at the moment.

Various games have various awesome tracks in them. I won't list them because it would be unfair for me. I know I'll miss a game that didn't come to mind, thus missing some songs. So I'll just name one:

The Final boss 1&2 songs from Metal Saga. Rock songs niceley blended with a bit of techno, and alot of dramatic sound to it to perfectly fit how you're (most likely) in a tank on a high speed elevator, matching the speed of a world-deadly missile while getting rid of deadly polygons that can mutilate your stats and annhilate you to oblivion so that you may destroy the horrible missle that was planned to destroy the earth which had already been greatly destroyed already. And it gets better, taking that song and perfectly mixing it in with the normal enemy music, thus creating memorable music that can stay in my mind for years---

I lost my point. Well, Final 1&2 songs from Metal saga. Yea. Unfortunately, the game wasn't popular. With that being said, You can't find the songs anywhere on the net, let along the other songs. I hate it. I really want those songs on my Zune....

If I had to pick one, I'd probably pick the MMX1 battle theme or Epsilon's 2nd movement from MMXCM.

Hmm this a toughie in it's self... But, I have to say Irwin's Theme from Legend of Mana said I have the ability to descimate all life as we know it! Perhaps the best theme for a villian from the PSX era when Square Enix was once Squaresoft.

My favourite VG song ever would have to be Dr Wily Stage 1 theme from Megaman 2.

For myself, I like:

Devil May Cry - Lock and Load.
Devil May Cry 3 - The Devil's cry.
Final Fantasy 7 - Opening bombing mission, Hurry up, Crazy motorcycle, One Winged Angel.
Final Fantasy 8 - Maybe I'm a lion.
Megaman 3 - Title theme.
Megaman X - Intro, Boss battle, Zero theme.
Megaman X2 - Flame Stag level, Zero's theme.
Sonic the hedgehog 3 and Knuckles - Hydrocity, Ice Cap, Sandopolis, Doomsday.

And there are more than that, but I can't remember all of them.
Also, there are songs which I don't like the original, but I like remixes of them... (like this remix of Brinstar)
And then the songs on that list I also enjoy remixes of them... Especially ones from OCRemix or if they're from Dwelling of Duels.

The only DMC song I've liked really well was the Cerberus theme. I liked all of them but That's the only one I like to listen to outside of the game. There might be more, but I'd have to play the other three to find out. lol


The majority of megaman and sonic songs I like. I wish they'd remake chaos angel pt.3 from sonic advanced.

Oh yea, and Ryu, Ken, Evil Ryu, and M.Bisons' themes from Streetfighter Alpha three are awesome. I also love a few songs from King of Fighters: Maximum impact. I know you guys don't care much for those games, but you're missing out on some awesome songs if you're ever looking for fight songs for a flash or something.


Which reminds me: Did anyone ever catch the name of the song used in MK Vs. SF3 for the fight? I can never remember the names from the guy's credits, and you can't pause...

MMZ2: Combustion (Elpizo's evil theme)

Kirby: Nearly all of them, but the glutton and Dedede themes are great.

MMX7: Highway Stage again (Also known, again, as Zero's theme ^^)

Then comes the song from sonic adventure 2 final battle song

Most of the Kirby songs are good but the best song from it has to be Green Greens

I can also find myself humming the Tetris Type A theme
