This game is proving to be a sort of follow up to the Zero series, but it doesn't prove why the Irregulars have appeared, the virus was supposted to be wiped out since the last mavericks were killed and the Zero Virus was cleaned off Zero's body at the intermission between MMX and MMZ

But admission of the Zero Series, and several X series games... you don't have to be infected with a virus inorder to labeled Maverick. In ages past, it was a reference to any repliod who decided to oppose humanity.

Ya what Pariah Ronin said. In his own series, Zero was labeled a maverick since he fought against Neo Arcadia.

ok this is way, way, way, way back when X had a fro, just joking. ;D but before X started fighting , there were a few maverick outbreaks with out Zero helping out. The term maverick is givin to any repiloid who breaks the first law of robotics, and i quote "A robot is to never harm the human race or a human being as an individual" so does that clear a few things up? and did any of you get a decent giggle from my first sentance?

Not really because you can be considered Maverick without "harming" a human being... I mean the resistance to our knowledge never killed a single human in the Zero series...

What it really means is if the robot has any KNOWN intention to harm somebody, then its maverick. besides the resistance was labeled maverick because the RESISTED Neo Arcadia. so thats about it for me. i wonder, if we could bring of Maverick brand cards to the repiloids? i wonder if they would shoot it?

I never heard of the Resistance being called maverick.
And last time I checked, a maverick is a reploid that was infected with the Sigma/Maverick/Zero Virus, and went mad.
Every Maverick in the X games were infected with the Sigma Virus. In MMZ, they NEVER called a boss or anything a Maverick. At least I don't recall them saying

They were, especially in Z1. They call the resistance mavericks in the intruction booklet and in the first few levels. And I think Copy X Mk 2 says it again in Z3 when Ciel refuses to turn over the Ciel system. Not sure about that, but they definately label them mavericks in Z1.

I'll quote...

here is a start to the story, and i quote... Humans began to develop machine bodies for themselves and gain the power of Reploids, and in turn Reploids developed finite lifespan. Eventually this led to the erasing of the boundary between humans and Reploids. Life continued like this for hundreds of years.
In time, the people of the world (who were once humans and Reploids) managed to revive some of the former nations of the world. However, preventing further prosperity like the days of old, incidents here and there around the world began wherein some of the machine life forms went berserk (referred to as Mavericks or Irregulars), making some areas dangerous, and soon this activity obstructed exchange between nations. These areas prohibited to nations became known as "Outer."
Thus, the nations of the world became divided into areas designated as "Inner," where it was safe for people to live, and "Outer," where the dangerous Irregulars appeared. Great developments were made due to the efforts of the corporation "Serpent Company," which possesses technology unearthed from historic ruins in the Outer areas. Peaceful life was maintained by receiving the technology offered by the Serpent Company in the central areas of cities.
In the frontier regions where the crisis management of countries still doesn't reach, damage from attacks by Mavericks has occurred at times. The people in these areas developed the self defense organization known as "Guardian." They defend the frontier regions and investigate the cause of the Maverick element.
In more detail, it's mentioned that the Serpent Company uses the technology developed from historic ruin finds essentially as a lifeline for the cities, providing goods to the people such as energy resources. It is not necessarily a bad thing that the company has more or less grasped the lifeline of the cities, at least for the people in those cities. The Serpent Company is named after its own president, Serpent. Serpent is considered a wonderful person who raised the company on his own by excavating the ancient technology sleeping in the Outer areas. Furthermore, he has arranged a Mechaniloid army in his company, and is said to have repeatedly saved countries from Maverick attacks in the past.
On the other hand, the Guardians in the frontier regions are considered to be unassociated private ventures. They make the "Guardian Base," a gigantic flying ship, their headquarters, and they take people on a volunteer basis to not only defend the frontier areas but also investigate the Irregular source. The original leader of Guardian disappeared during the investigation of an Outer area, and command has been taken over by the young girl named Prairie.
The two teenaged protagonists, a male named Vent and a female named Aile, have lost their parents due to Irregular attacks. Another character, Girouette, is Vent and Aile's senior, and carries out his own business "Girouette Express" which sends anything, from letters to weapon, to anywhere, regardless if it's legal or not, receives a request from Prairie to transport the "Live Metals" "Model X" and "Model Z" which are assumed to be based on Mega Man X and Zero. Live Metal is a substance discovered in places, such as ruins, that contains information about events bygone. They carry the battle experience and memories of those from beings from the past.

I already said that in the Main ZX Thread here in the boards. No need to be repeating
